I used pull through tire valves. Works fine. I had similar issues with starting and idle, etc. It wasn't until I replaced the carburetor and all of the rubber hoses and lines that it began to run right. Also, the gasoline smell went away when I pulled it into the garage.

Mine was doing the stalling thing as soon as the enricher would kick off. This indicated a partially clogged jet. Rather than try to rebuild this crummy chinese carburetor I replaced the carb and all is fine now.

Thanks Alleyoop, I finally got it off a few weeks ago. We had used an electric impact wrench prior to my post. (I may have omitted that!) Finally a friend with a compressor dragged it over, and I borrowed an air-driven impact wrench. That friggin' nut was off in 2 seconds! Victory! I believe I'll invest in a small compressor and impact gun. I'm reassembling now. The rear nut (clutch side) was pretty beat-up. I had bought 2 nuts from a supporting vendor. The shipping was free, they came from China. It took a long time, but I had a long time. (It being winter still). I swear I'm an idiot. I never tried them for fit. Of course the thread size was wrong. I hate putting a badly mauled nut on the the thing. I wonder where I can buy those correct nuts for the Linhai MC-54-250B, and get them within a week or so. Dr.JR kindly sent me a Yamaha manual for the comparable scoot. Good god!. I never realized there were so many picky rules n' things to observe. I'm losing my innocence! Thanks for all your help! I believe JCLUSA will have your part. Check it out at www.jclusa.com

I was told to check the rubber bumper on the center stand. One of the guys had the same problem of loud noise during acceleration and found this part to be defective causing metal to metal contact. Another round tuit I need to find this Saturday.

My JCL MP250A sounds like someone banging a wooden spoon back and forth inside a coffee can under hard throttle. Just cruising is nice and quiet. This racket only occurs under hard throttle.
Any ideas? I'm about to take the "don't fix it til it's broke" attitude.

How do you know it is running LEAN? It may just be Idleing to low once the ENRICHER cuts off the extra Fuel. If you have a tach on the scoot once the Enricher cuts off the extra fuel it should be IDLEING around 1500-1800 rpms. If not then Turn the IDLE SPEED SCREW the one with the SPRING on it on the Throttle Cable SIDE Clockwise a little to raise your IDLE. But usually on the 250s they come with a 30mm or 32mm carb and the FUEL RATIO SCREW is in Front and Underneath. Alleyoop The scooter was always hard to start but it ran half decently. After inspecting the enricher, I found it to be stuck all the way out and defective. After replacing the enricher, the scooter was really hard to start and stalled when I came to a stop unless I gave it a little throttle. Hence, the Chinese must have set the mix with the defective enricher slammed all the way into the venturi. I am taking it to a scooter dealer because I've had it! He may charge me up the wazoo but I don't care at this point if he makes it right. I told hime to adjust the valves as well. Thanks for the great advice and the terrific carb drawings. Ernie

Can someone PLEEEEEEZE tell me exactly where the mixture screw is located on my Keihin carb? I can't see anything on the left side where I had hoped it would be.
I replaced a defective enricher and now the carb is set too lean and wants to quit when the enricher disengages.
Thanks Ernie

When I shut off the motor on my new JCL250cc, it stinks like gas for several hours. I assume I need to change the fuel line and filter. Can someone tell me how to remove whatever panels I need to remove in order to do this? Thank you in advance. Ernie

Hi to all. I'm new on here and I just ordered a JCL 250cc scooter from Rockford Scooter Exchange on Ebay. They also go by Scooter Exchange Chicago.
Am I going to regret this choice?
