Hello all
I saw a little device on scrappydog that is supposed to relieve pressure build up in your engine if you have no airbox. Since I assume most of us don't have an airbox, does anyone have any thoughts ?
Does removing the vacuum connection and just having an oil catch can pose a threat?

I've been using my mini oil catch can (pics in the custom section) for more tha 2k miles. works great unless you blow your rings and start leaking exhaust gas into the valve cover (my little catch can melted).

Well on mine the vent hose on the valve cover just goes past the carb and then is Zipped Tied to the frame up high so if any oil squirts out it doesn't come out and get all over the engine or ground. Alleyoop

OK, can somebody tell me once and for all if I'm doing any harm to my engine with my crankcase breather set up. The oil that accumulates in the tube when I'm riding runs back down into the valve cover when I shut the engine off. The fuel filter on the end keeps dirt out, I hope. I'm a little concerned because guys in the know like Jake and Alley have a catch can or let it out, not back in the engine.By the way Jake, you were wondering if that extra few inches from the manifold riser would help any; well I hit 63 MPH today with the GPS, a personal best. I'm still tweaking the carb though, I'm going richer incrementally until the plug is tan, not there yet. Doug, I don't think you need any vacuum on that tube. My zip tie slipped one day and I kept feeling something on my leg, it was air blowing out of the tube! So I don't think a vacuum on it is necessary. Rich

Bashan, I must say that is a BAD arse looking setup:) As for the little bit of oil that gets back in that is ok you do want lubrication on the valve train. Think of a car and how it is setup they have just a PVC valve to breath and the oil stays in under the Valve cover, it will sip down back into the crankcase by the Cam chain. Alleyoop

I run my 50cc with just a filter like that. 2 years no problem yet.
