Hi guys
Long time no post
I just discovered that fuel is pouring out of the overflow tube at the top of my carb.
(Note: I don't have a fuel "pump", I just have an on off valve)
Usually I leave the on/off valve open no problem. I just discovered that if I open the valve the gas just keeps flowing and flowing, to the point of pouring out of the carb.
My questions are
1) This is float problem right? 2) Will a rebuild kit solve this problem? How hard is that? 3) For $10 more, should I just buy a new carb
Thanks in advance

Thanks Bashan
Looks pretty easy.
1) Do you think the gasket would have to be replaced if you opened that up?
2) It doesn't look too hard to change the final gears at that point. Have you ever done that?
I always wondered if that would be an easy way to improve performance, but I thought you needed a special gear puller.

Hi guys
Like many of you I read all three forums, so if you do sorry , Im going to put this on Scootdawg too
Any hoo
How hard is it to swap out the rear shaft (the one that the wheel goes on)
I have another engine (yes Im still looking) with a short rear shaft.
Of course I could use the shaft from my old engine so how hard is the job?

Hi guys
been awhile since I posted here. Here is my question.
With a UNI filter and a free flow exhaust what size jets do you suggest
I read this but it seemed really high
Properly Selecting And Installing Carburetor Jets [12,251 views - 6 comments - Rating 5/5 ***** ] Sizing at sea level: With UNI filter 120-125 With UNI filter and low restriction exhaust 130-135 With UNI filter, low restriction exhaust, A12 cam, performance coil & CDI and NGK Iridium spark plug 135-140
Test procedure: 1. Run engine at less than half throttle a minimum of 15 minutes to close electric choke 2. On a 300' or 100 meter stretch or greater, run the engine at wide open throttle 3. While still holding the gas pedal to the floor, cut the ignition 4. Remove the spark plug and inspect end for color a. White - Increase jet size b. Tan/Brown - Correct jet size c. Black - Decrease jet size 5. Clean spark plug with brass wire brush and check the gap prior to next test run

I agree, I like rollers
Sliders seemed like they lag behind the throttle. When I gave it gas it would rev up, then I could feel the sliders go up.
Then when I let off the gas< it would be a second before I felt them go down.
Could be ramp design, who knows.

I personally don't ever want to have to deal with it again.
I see new engines on Ebay for $200! For that, I should just throw this engine away!
After new tools (flywheel puller) gaskets, and crankshaft, I'm up to $100 already and Im not even sure this will work when I put it back together!
However, I do feel pretty proud that I've gotten this far.
I have filmed the entire process, so one day I'll have a YouTube video up

Got it off I used a torch and banged the S*#@ out of it. I think the many variator changes (with subsequent re-tightening of the nut) really pushed that gear onto the shaft Good Times! In retrospect, I think some sort of a puller would be the way to go. P.S. I love it when even my 70 year old neighbor lady is asking me "Didn't you just buy that scooter?"

Hello all
I am in the process of splitting the case and putting in a new crank
Question.. How do I get the gear that is right behind the variator off? That is the last thing holding the crank into the case.
Side question, what about the timing chain? When do I take that off or how ?

Hello all
I saw a little device on scrappydog that is supposed to relieve pressure build up in your engine if you have no airbox. Since I assume most of us don't have an airbox, does anyone have any thoughts ?
Does removing the vacuum connection and just having an oil catch can pose a threat?

OK Docs
So we've determined that some catastrophic defects lurks within my engine.
What do you think it is?
How hard is it to open up the crankcase and have a look around?
I need some help here guys (a new motor is not really an option)

Yep
That is the noise
I skimmed your thread, what was the final verdict. Or better yet, what should I do now? (after the oil change)
What is causing that noise? Is it fixable?

Ok
it has gotten worse
Now it sounds like someone put a few large washers in my crankcase
Somewhere between a scrape and really loud valve clatter
No loss in power and it still runs great
Help me please

Hello All Docs
I have developed a strange whirring noise. It is tied to RPMs and it sounds like a medium pitched whirr
I took off the variator and ran the bike without it, and the noise was exactly the same, so I know it is not tied to the variator, belt, or clutch.
Side note- at times I have to hit the starter twice, as my 160cc piston and cylinder seem to have a good amount of compression
My thoughts are perhaps the bearing that the variator shaft runs on?
I really need some advice on this
Is it OK to keep riding?
Help guys!

Jake
Can you take pics of the vacuum caps? What are you capping? I only have 2 vaccuum lines, one to the carb and one to the "pump"
I'd just like to better understand your setup.
67- Pretty awesome
