guys, i came across this site, and as i browse on it, i recognize some familiar pictures of scooters posted on some scooter forum. /and some familiar pictures of the members too.
hmm ,question arises,, are these familiar scooter really owned by them??or just uploaded and they don't really have a scooter??

I would suppose that someone who doesn't want to or can't take a picture of themselves and/or their scooter might use something like this, but to not disclose it is a little dishonest, I think. I wouldn't ever actually accuse someone of lying about having a scooter, but it is possible. Maybe some people would lie to gain access to the social aspects of the scooter community. I think it more likely that people are just taking advantage of the stock pictures instead of taking their own, though. I wouldn't find it too offensive, but they should admit it if they are doing it.

By the way, that is an image search. It is also quite possible that the images you are seeing are being picked up from the originals you have already seen. To find out, click on the image and then on the link below the image on the enlargement. This should take you to the site the image is actually on. That is how I followed the avatar image I found to the site where it is from. When they let me contact the "owner" of the image, I'll ask if I can use it.

A lot of times I will put up an avatar for a new member to make them feel more welcome and dress up the site a little. That's always been a pet peeve of mine, that empty avatar space. Anyway, I was getting one of those confused, jumbled up Photobucket albums filled with avatars, half of whom didn't stick around. So I started snagging images off the web for a new member's avatar until they get their own together. That may one reason that you see familiar images. We've been pretty slack about actually having a scooter to belong. I think as long as the member has an avid interest in scooters, has something similar to a scooter, or plans on getting a scooter, we should welcome them. If we start veering off into cars, boats, or politics, I'll put the skids on it. Rich

I don't know how I got there, or if it's worth suing for some kind of cyber theft, but that picture of me sitting on my W650 next to my house is actually me!!! If you look at my avatar here you can see the logs of my house and my stone chimney. I use that avatar in four places so somebody grabbed it from one of them. If I was going to steal one I'd certainly find somebody younger and better looking.

Wait! It says they got it from SD and that I joined in 2008. They must have lifted it recently since I only put that one in there in September of this year. I see Ginny and Jayhawk's avatar also.

I would be PROUD to have that avatar on this website! Seriously, I was referring to the main thrust of the forum. We talk about all kinds of things but at the end of the day it's a scooter forum. I guess I'm kinda sensitive to this as I belonged to a motorcycle forum that slowly degenerated into a constant political discussion with members becoming more and more polarized. but is that site owned solely by one person?..he must be crazy, he copied pictures of scooters,faces,horses,birds,babies etc. ..i've had pictures of my morph all over the web but ,it wasn't copied. ..he must have a bad taste in scooter..LOL

Luke, I can't tell if you're being serious or not...

You posted a link to a Google Image Search... so, of course not one person has all of those images. If you look at the individual links to all those images, they're mostly to sites like ImageShack, Photobucket and I saw plenty that linked to ScootDawg. So, since most images on those sites are publicly visible and searchable by Google, they're going to appear in a search for "air scooter avatar".

OK *Luke*, I'm BUSTED. No I don't own a scooter, my avatar is from off the web, and right now my ride resembles a mangled pile of parts next to an old bike frame.

nothing personal, like iv'e said i was just shock, and amidst awe..
i remember in one of the morphous group i belong to, the founder who used to lecture a lot about the morphous do's and don'ts ,maintenance and God knows what else, happens to be guess what?? yup, not owning a morphous at all., gosh,for cryin out loud.
