Hey Guys, Here's the wheelchair carrier that Alley and one of his friends rigged up for me. A professor at Southern University asked that I do a video for his students to discuss in one of his classes. So, I go through how I attach it and then a quick trip out of the driveway. Hope it works for others as well.

Good on you, Jack and on Alley and friends for designing the carrier. This is a good example of the scooting community helping each other.

Holy Thread Revival Batman!!!
But, I will admit, I saw that video a while back (when doing reserch on trikes) and was/am/is greatly impressed. I didn't know Alley was involved in the design, but, I'm not surprised either. I'm also so greatful that Jack is able to get the freedom of riding while still in a chair. He's an inspiration to all those with disabilities. God Bless you Jack (and Alley)

I found a VIDEO from China, the guy had a Trike and his was on the Right side of the Trike and I looked at the system, stopping the Video and expanding to see how it was hooked up. There were others as well but they appeared harder to fabricate. I emailed the guy to see if a company was selling them over there but got no response. So I talked to Jack and sent him the Video and asked if something like that would be of help. He said yes and then I asked him to measure his wheelchair folded up and the size of the wheels on his wheelchair and from the bottom of the front wheels to the cross bar above the front wheels. He sent me pictures of his wheelchair folded up and with the measurements on the pictures. I then asked him what SIDE of the TRIKE would be best for him and he said the LEFT side so I sent the Video to my HotRod Welder Friend and stopped in and said can you build it and use my trike as the setup. He said no problem and I brought my Trike in to have it built. On the other thread I have pictures of my Trike in the shop and the carrier finished. I then sent the carrier to JACK and it worked out great. Alleyoop You can see my Trike in the Shop and the Carrier on it: www.scooterdoc.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=customscootsmodsetc&thread=1295&page=1#54482

I know this was 3 years ago, but, the idea lives on with Jack enjoying every minure of it. The simplicity of the entire thing is amazing. (Frame/tube/rack/washer/cotter pin) I know, not quite that simple, but, not bulky either.
Alley, how is Jack doing now days? I see he only has 3 posts in 3 years. (assuming he signed up to thank you and post his new found freedom)
Again, All the praises to you for being such a wonderful person so as to get Jack mobile. (For, we may all be in a chair at a moments notice, and this may save us)

Last I heard from him he had other interests, he also was an RC ELECTRIC flyer. I think he wanted to do GLIDER flying. Don't even know if he still has the Trike or not. I will give him a jiggle and see what he is up to now-a-days. Alleyoop

Hope jack got some good use out of that carrier. I was big into rc when I was younger. I started out racing cars and quickly got bored with that, I didn't think is was a much of a challenge. So I moved into planes. That was back when we had to build them and couldn't just buy a ready to fly. I had 3, then I decided to try a heli. I had a kyoso concept 60. That was 20+ years ago and haven't done much of it since. I still do keep up on the latest goodies in rc though.

Well I giggled Jack last night and he responded with this: Alleyoop
Hey Al: great to hear from you. I still have the trike. Its covered with pollen and dust from lack of use. Im sure the carburetor needs cleaning as well. I know its way too far for anyone to venture this far; but if someone wanted to buy it, I would take very little for it. You were right. Im actually back at work and yes, my interest have changed. Im building an ultralight that I will have flying soon. Its an exciting project.... Again its great to hear from you.
