Ok the run down: I picked up a used 150cc carb at a local shop (I sent my "good" one into superiorpowersports.com) only to get a 50cc one back and to never hear from them again going on like 500 mesg's I've left them. What made them send me a carb was this: The stock one was running way lean, Alley told me what to do to drill the air / fuel screw out to adjust it. Was having MAJOR trouble with backfiring so I took it to a shop. It ran great for about a day then the air / fuel screw fell out. I repaired it sorta with cable ties and putting a nail in the screw hole so I could get home (no backfiring btw) Trike actually ran pretty ok. But I didn't want to have a trike rigged like this so I contacted Superior because my trike is "supposed" to have a warranty + 1 yr extended warranty (I bought it about 4 months ago now) I was told to send my carb in and they'd send me a new one. I did they sent me a 50cc carb. That's the last I've heard from them after massive emails I gave up and bought a used carb. NOW: My issue is still with backfiring. I'm unsure if the trike is still just running lean (I have adjusted the air / fuel) but I'm afraid to turn it out to much for fear of loosing the screw again. So I'm really unsure of what to do now. I've went over the things I know to check that Alley advised me on but can't seem to make it stop backfiring? Any suggestions would be great. But I'm also advising other people not to go to superiorpowersports.com if your lucky enough to get a "working" scooter I guess they are fine it shipped great / great amount of time/ paper work for title was in with the scooter. But I"ve had trouble with this trike from like day 3 of owning it (I have a post on scootdawg if you wanna read what the trike has put me though) and I haven't heard others with this many issues. I do think I got a lemon & told them so within the first week of ownership to no avail. So be cautious!!

Hi Wingcommander, Ok about the backfireing: You are running LEAN, You either have an Air Leak or Your Carb is set to Lean.
When does it backfire: Does it backfire only after you let go of the throttle when your slowing down or as your giving it gas.
1. First check to make sure your connections to the Carb are tight and not leaking. That is the rubber connections by the Intake and Carb, Also your Filter connections to the Carb. 2. Check your Vacuum Lines for any leaks.
3. Adjust your Air/Fuel Mixture and to stop it from vibrating loose and falling out, put a Dab Of Silicone on the Screw and onto the outside of the Carb(AFTER YOU ADJUST IT).
4. Also Check and make sure your Header Pipe is Not Leaking where it connects to the Engine. Check if it is loose. If its loose you should be able to tell by the sound of the Muffler and you will hear it leaking if you stick you head close to it. If it is loose you can tighten the nuts BUT NOT REALLY HARD they will break off(JUST NICE AND SNUG) DO NOT CRANK on them cause then you will be in a pickle and have to get the Stud out of the Head and get new ones. They are only a couple of bucks but its extra work. Alleyoop

to the backfiring it does it after the trike gets warmed up & when I've gone apx 40ish and let off the gas. dosen't seem to do it as bad if I let off the gas slowly but if I have to stop sudden or get caught in a yellow light it'll backfire. and Jim, I was just as surprised as you to open the box and find a 50cc carb An update on the company: After months of no contact I finally got a hold of someone and told them I would be contacting a lawyer if I didn't get some help and now they are "supposed" to be sending me out another carb. We'll see if it's the right one this time.

The backfireing check what i said above and if you have to adjust your carb and turn it out some more buy a tube of Silicone and put a dab on the screw and it will not fall out. Alleyoop

what kind of Silicone would I buy? Where would I buy it? I've not used it to be sticky before only to make things greasy? ((don't mean to sound stupid but figured it's better to ask ))

But let me say this if you have to turn the Fuel Ratio screw out MORE than 4 turns out then you PILOT JET is to small put in the NEXT bigger PILOT JET.
For a 150 motor they should have a 24mm carb and they usually come with a PILOT JET #35 and a MAIN JET anywhere from 103-107. Alleyoop
