This is how the back signal light are going to work. Only thing left to do is sand the trim ring down to tube size. Attachments:

Got a box of parts today. Battery box, taillight, foot pegs, and fenders. Unfortunately I have to get ready for my sons Cub Scouts Blue and Gold Banquet so can't get anything done today. Hopefully will make some progress tomorrow and can post pictures. Attachments:

Update. You ever wonder why the 50cc scoots have the battery in the floorboard? Cause that's the only place it really fits! Unfortunately, the friend I'm building this for dosnt want any plastic so no floorboard. I think I figured out a solution but its going to take me a couple of days to mock up. Will post new picks ASAP. On the upside the mettle fenders are going to look very nice. Thank you BMI.

This is a little hint of the plan for the next naked scooter. Think 4 speed automatic using the original CVT, 125cc air cooled engine, and a jackshaft. OK, now you opened the door, at least it wasn't me. I think we need to move away from being stuck in the GY6 mode. That's one reason I went as unconventional as could on my project. What's wrong with putting one of these or something like it in a scooter?:
Find a way to hook it to a CVT or....GASP.....just shift it. I think these engines are very cool and have a lot more room for modifications with the carbs and intake. This is one reason I want to learn welding is to be able to construct a scooter with this sort of engine or like you mentoned. Very cool on the tail lights by the way. I'm also not using a battery box which I'll post in a few days but I doubt most guys would go my route. Looks great JH, can't wait to see more. Rich

I'm planning on doing both. The engine has a 4 speed trans. I plan on running a chain from the engine to a jackshaft then from the other end of the jackshaft anouther chain will be attached to the CVT using a sprocket welded to the hub of the original flywheel. I just ground off the rivets and am only using the small center hub so the cover will still fit. I also removed the stator and pickup as I will use the charging system built into the new motor. I'm going to have to split the case on the GY6 inorder to remove the connecting rod. Then I'll make a cover for where the cylinder used to be.

Made up my mind where to mount the battery box. First I had to make a couple of mounts to attach the box to. BTW. I apologize for only one picture per post. I'm doing all this from my Blackberry as the home computer is on the fritz. I tried the photobucket thing but for some reason it won't work on this stupid phone. Attachments:

Today made the mount for the frond fender. Just have to clean up the welds. Wish I was a better welder so I could just run a bead and be done. instead I have to weld and grind, weld and grind, weld and grind, you get the ida. This part is going to be very visible so it has to look good. Hopefully tomorrow I can get the front fender mounted. I don't have much hope as the wife has the day off and that usually means I don't get much done in the garage! Attachments:

Madcollie...You got it man! This is kind of my take on what it would look like it a Whizzer met a cute little chinese scooter and they had a child. My wife's opinion......" Congratulations, you made a $1000.00 scooter look like. $200.00 mini bike". Got the front fender mounted. This is how it looks. Attachments:
