Us Southerners did have a brief respite for a couple of weeks but March is back to its old tricks. Temps in the 40's and 50's , high winds, and rain--lots of rain. In my area we are expecting 2-3" possible today. Better weather for boating than it is for riding. Mac, sorry you are having all the probs with the new scoot. Fuel prices went up 20 cents last week, now seeing some hi test at $4.00. Can find it cheaper but not by much.

I keep 15 gallons in my garage, treated with stabil and always have a gallon in the top trunk of which ever scoot I am riding. I fill up at home before riding and avoid service stations with the scoot. I realize that not every one can do this as they ride more than I do. I work from home and my riding is either to the PO for shipping small packages or to WallowWorld to pick up meds or groceries if needed or pleasure rides such as I have planned for this weekend. EM did a kind deed.

Needless to say I moved off out of my beloved Arkieland for a higher paying job at the time and starting riding my little Yamaha twin 90cc again
Now there's an image. You on a Yamaha twin 90. How long did that poor little two stroke last?

Gas shortage of 1972, now that was a scare. No one was suposed to have any gas from where I was woking just west of Chicago, Il. to my home here in Ind. Pulling a 38 ft 5th wheel down I-57, meeting a strong head wind from the south, I could only hit a top speed of 45 mph. Sucking up the gas, I didn't know if I would get home or even get to the next station that had gas. I did hit a couple of stations that would only give me 10 gallons and that was it. I can't remember what the price of a gallon was then but it did go up a bit. I did make it home late that evening as I stopped in Champain, Ill. and let the winds die down so that I would get better gas mileage. I believe that is when they made the speed limit 55 mph for a while. ? is, How many miles per gallon would you save driving 55 mph rather than 65 mph using your TRUCK, CAR, OR SCOOTER. I am going to test my vehicles and let you know the results.

It was one of the first models with oil in one tank and gas in the other
Autolube or Injectolube. My 500 Kawasaki Triple had a similar system. It went through about three quarters of a quart in 600 miles. It squirted oil into the intake and main bearings and had a cable from the throttle that increased the flow as the throttle opened more. Too bad they were bad for the environment. They were light, powerful and easy to work on and maintain.

I definately remember that time, JR. I was driving 110 miles a day round trip to my full time job and was on the road on weekends persuing my Pro Handling Career at Southern dog shows I was using a new 72 Chevi pick up, 6 cyl., with a box cover on the bed that was a walk in. Had the rear view window out and a connector to the rear. Plus I was pulling a 17' travel trailer. Gas prices tripled over night. I had a second 20 gallon tank installed with a switch over control so that I could head out with an extra 20 gallons if I could not find a station open to refill the main tank. Never had much trouble finding gas but it was good to have a back up. Those were the 'good old days!!!!'

Yes, I remember well, the gas companies were telling us there was a world wide shortage of gas. That alone was bs. Not only was that scare the fleecing of americans, but there was also plenty of hot air and gas from the execs that were selling us the "shortage".
Also, I really believe there are workable alternatives to gas but they are being "kept under cover" by the gas companies and the lobbyists who lobby washington. A workable alternative would force the price to come down. OH MY!!!!We certainly couldn't have that! I am so sick of the lies that are being told to get prices up. How gullible do they think we are? How gullible do they think allthe people in the world are? The sad truth is that most people know they are getting fleeced but feel there is nothing they can do about it.
Just think, If everyone, every single person, in the northern hemisphere, world wide, rode a scooter or motorcycle for 7 or 8 months, then the southern hemisphere did the same thing for their summer, Imagine how demand would drop. I smile just thinking of it.
