any one know anything about 70's Small frame Vespas? Thinking about buying a frame locally for cheap (75 Vespa Primavera 125) bare frame except for a badge, a few cables, and a wiring harness still intact. Having a tuff time finding parts via google. Going to run over to a friends scooter shop (dose alot of vintage crap) tomorrow and see what he thinks about it.
Think I should go for it? I really shouldn't start another project (especially another damn scooter) but I need to have a vintage bike in my stable.

I know its easy to get caught up in the vintage thing. I just paid way to much for a Cushman, $1400. Do your research and ask those who know. Then again if you LOVE it, its worth the price of admission.

A little rersearch on Craigslist-Atlanta shows 64 Vespa rebuilt engine and restored $1500.00 obo, 79 Vespa totally rebuilt and restored $1850.00. You might be able to buy a rebuilt one in your area for less than it would cost to do it yourself if a vintage Vespa is what you want. However, look out for "rebuilt" Vewspas that hae been brought in from Viet Nam. Research shows they are to be avoided. I agree with MC on this one.

$70, hmmm. If it isn't all rusted out what the heck, why not. At worst you could take the body and make a china GY6 vespa scoot. Very stylish on a budget. M/C

No rust from what I can see. From what Ive heard, all parts from Small Frame Vespas will work so I think Ill be ok.
M/C - I really really like that idea!!!! I may have to buy it and throw a GY6 in there, Id be shunned from the scooter community here but it would be worth it!!

You'd be shunned by the Vespa snobs but you'd be praised here! We don't shun people who have the nads to be different or I'd be SOOOOOO SHUNNED! ;D ;D Go for it and tell any Vespa Snob "I'm doing it for 1/5 the cost". M/C

M/C I may just throw a 150cc in there just for the hell of it! Its almost the perfect vintage ride. It would be reliable (unless I worked on it), fast, no shifting, no mixing oil, and great gas mileage! Maybe even try and get Chinese front forks with disc brakes on there!

This is a tough one folks. I need another project scooter like I need a hole in my head. In reality I should just put all time and money into getting my truck together but its summer now and I hate driving cagers in the summer! Sent him a email asking about it, only thing if I get it I got to figure out how to get it home with out it being to visible!
If I get it, I dont plan on restoring it for a while. I want to get it together and just ride it. Then start putting money away to start a Lambretta project and then restore that (take it to Vegas for High Rollers and ride it in SLC only when its above 70 degrees with no clouds in the sky lol) Maybe restore it(Primavera) some time in the future but I just want a vintage bike to ride around and not worry about getting scratched up.
