Thanks for the info. I was not able to work on the scooter today. Darn, it's more frustrating not being able to work on it when I want to more than it not running! LOL!!
I hope the spark plug is the problem, if not nothing else at least I'm learning a lot thanks to you guys.
I also hope to donate to the site soon. I am so grateful for it! :-)
And you are sure the KILL SWITCH is in the OFF position and the Kickstand is up(some have a safety switch on the kickstand as well and will not start if it is down). Alleyoop
Wow, can't believe it snowed here today. Well, I guess I should be use to Wisconsin weather by now, LOL!!
Anyhooooo, I did manage to get the spark plug and tried to get it installed Saturday, but as luck would have it, I dropped the darn thing into the scooter and could not get it out. Geeesssshhhh!!!
Well, it was not the spark plug. Still turning over very strong but not attempting to start. I am wondering if to much oil could make it not start? I guess I am going to have to send it out for repair.
Have you tested to be certain you have spark on the plug? Are you certain the spark plug boot is on the plug well?
Oil has nothing to do with it, but you need to have the correct amount of oil in the scooter. Overfilling will cause all kinds of other problems...the recommend amount is 750 ml or about 3/4 of a US quart...then check your dip stick...
Well, kinda got busy with work but was able to drain the motor oil. Just decided change it just in case. I though much more would drain, not much came out, is that normal?
Well, anyhooo, with the holiday weekend coming I hope to work on it. I do make sure the kill switch is on, the kickstand is up and I hold the brake though.
I had not had a chance to re-check for spark. I did however check the CDI, it looks ok. Is the piece inside supposed to wiggle? Mine does. Sorry if that is a dumb question.
Well, I left the oil cap off so all the oil would drain. I am going to re-fill the oil and re-check for spark. I checked the battery. That seems fine. The scooter is still just cranking but not attempting to start.
One other question. Does anyone know of a video or instructions on how to install a key switch assembly on a JCL 250A? I've been looking. Found a couple of things but not really what I need.
Sounds like your oil was pretty low...if you have a kick starter you can use that to turn the engine and get about 1/4 cup more oil out...when the drain is open.
Nothing should wiggle on the CDI... it should just be a black block with a double white connector on it. It may be in a rubber mounting.
Well here is why I questioned why I may have to much oil in my scooter. When I would check the oil before I tried to change it today, the oil would drip from the dipstick, so I though that maybe it was to much in the scooter. I let all the oil drain out over night. Today when I went to fill it the oil is backing back out and won't go into the scooter at all! Wow! I really thought that I was smart enough to put oil into a hole, LOL!! What the heck!! I am wondering what is what now!!??
I tried with a funnel, without a funnel, pouring it into the oil hole very slow, nothing worked.
I am thinking whatever this is could be the whole not starting issue?
Help!!
Oh, please forgive me if I just forgot to do something very simple.
Wow, that sounds serious. How does something like this happen? The scooter I have been working on is a 50cc Bashan Renegade with on 7 miles on it. It is something I can do to fix this myself? Is there something I should have done that would of prevented this?
