Ok so I am in the process of selling my 125cc. So I get a call at 9:30 this am that this guy wants to come take a look at it today. I am ok when would you like to come so I can make sure I will be around for you. Oh well I will come right now if that is ok. So I say no problem I will pull it out and have it out front. Well going on 5 hours later guys still has not showed up. He live 15 miles away. People could atleast call back and let someone know that they are NOT COMING..... Arrrg

I hear ya Todd. I have some things listed in the local "trader's guide" and on Craigs List. Too often, they do a no-show.

I have sold a lot of stuff on eBay and craiglist, etc. It killed me when people didn't show. Your situation is so common that I rarely wait for people unless I'm planning to be home for a long time. It used to tick me off big-time. A friend who sells car, motorcycle an PC stuff told me to quit waiting. Arrive at a reasonable time when you'll both be around. If not, Tell them when you'll be around and when you will leave. Let them know that if they don't come then, they'll need to reschedule at your convenience. Also never tell them that you'll hold it for them unless they put down a non-refundable $100 deposit, Cash. This all sounds rude and counterproductive. But it cuts the tire kickers out of the picture. Serious prospects will want the scoot enough to be there. This saves your temper lots of wear and tear. It's worth it. Good Luck! Andy (technoglide).

I always try and get their cell phone number and when I get tired of waiting, I text them and say if your not here in 15 minutes, I am leaving as I have errands to run.

Well I feel better. Guy drove all the way over from Madison took it for a spin. Said he would take it but banks are not open today. I worked it out with him I will bring it with me to Work tomorrow since I work in Madison. He works nights so He will bring me the money at Lunch tomorrow and pick up the scooter. Had a really good vibe about this couple. Also pointed him to this forum for tip when he is doing maintainance on the scoot he is getting from me.

if i go to look at anything i have money in my pocket, kinda stupid to waste time and go look , what happens after ya leave and the dude shows up with cash? 9 times out of ten it will be sold,
good luck on the sale though,

Thanks Phase. I was still raised on trying to believe in people. A good ol Hand shake to seal the deal and a mans word. So guess I will see. Worst that could happen is haveing to put it back up on Craigs list. I would probably be Ticked to. Plus I could have taken a check but I do not trust people that much is why I agreed to bring to Madison with me so he could bring me Cash and take it with him from there.

oh,gad damin!!! ;D ;Dthere's only one thing i'd like to tell you...if a buyer really wants and needs the product...no amount of tornado or tsunami can prevent him from comming over and buy it..... i have been selling things in CL for 5years now...in fact i sold 3 things today .. 4 bikes/ a garden pond/and a rabbit cage...my capital?=$0.0 i always put on my ad "first come first serve"... there are buyers that prefer to meet in a place like walmart,,in most cases this deal is a sure deal,,even if they are not too satisfied with the product, they'll be force to buy it.lol if i give them my address and they didn't show up,i don't care,,i am not really affected at all.someone will always come to buy it,maybe not today but maybe tomorrow or next week. in the past, i posted 7 products all at one time...they all got sold in the course of one week,,i had $500 in my hand.. my capital?==$60.... i buy really dirt cheap things and re-sell it. i make good money in my 9-5 job,,i'm selling things not primarily for money but as a training and security,in the back of my mind if i ever loose my job ,i can still survive. ahhh,,too much informations about me...NOW back to the topic..i got carried away again...m/c is really contagious..LOL ;D ;D
cheers!

And to tell you the truth if I did not have a bit of faith in people I would not have ended up with the scooter I got from Fubar 2 weeks ago. We made the Deal over the phone in January No money transfered hands until I went down to pick up the scooter. He sat on it for 3 months on my word that I was going to buy it from him. He could have sold it at any time but he did not. :-)
