How many watts does the electric choke use? I'm trying to calculate how many watts to reduce to run a fuel pump that draws 2 amps. When I install the efi system I will eliminate the choke.

Well Roy, I must admit that you do come up with the most interesting posers. I don't think the auto choke draws enough to matter since everybody seems obsessed about how it ohms out or whether the plunger comes out 3/16" when you hook it right to a 12v battery, not how much it draws. I can get you some wiring diagrams if you want. You are kinda talking apples and oranges though since the auto choke is on the AC yellow wire and your EFI fuel pump is going to be on the DC side of the rectifier, or the red wire. Like my good friend Rapid Jim once told me, don't get too wound up in adding up watts and amps, that's what the rectifier/regulator does.....let it do it's work. For a while on my 150cc Bashan, I ran everything off of the red wire and just grounded the yellow off of the R/R. I kept expecting a meltdown but it ran fine and charged the battery, what more could you ask? Now I run the yellow through a 35 Watt Baja headlight just to give the yellow something to do, no sense letting it lolligag around. Now, what I want to know is what the hell kinda EFI are you going to use? The only one I've seen is that one from MBE, the "Canadian" site . I just can't bring myself to pony up $260.00 and be the test case.......I was hoping you'd do that . Rich

Several people on totalruckus have supposedly bought that kit for their "darkside" ruckus swaps(gy6 into a ruck is apparently called this). No one has reported back on if it works or how well it works. I am also intrigued by the system, but I'm not prepared to spend the money on it when I may be looking at a brand new set of rear shocks... Let's all hope the helicoil kit I have coming in today works!

I tested 3 chokes this morning and came up with an average of .50 watts.

I assume you realize the choke runs off AC and the pump needs DC.

I don't think any fuel pump from a carbureted scoot will work your fuel injection. Carburetors use low pressure or are gravity fed which I think you have on your scoot. Fuel injection requires a high pressure fuel pump in order to force the fuel through the fuel injector nozzle at a high enough pressure to atomize the fuel.

Keep us informed of how it goes for you. I really want to see how this works out. This looks sweet.

I've been doing a lot of searching and found that similar systems use about 60 watts. I don't know if the charging system will handle that. Also The oxygen sensor is not included and the instructions don't specify what type they use. I sent them an e-mail to inquire about this. Any way If this project fails I'll just get a bigger trike to try it on. ;D
