2007 chongqing baja sf50 - 50cc gy6
i would like to get rid of the box filter the mounts are broken and it just bangs around.
how hard would it be to modify it with the existing foam filter into a smaller filter.
I dont plan on re jetting just yet, just want to reduce the size of the filter without making the engine run too rich or lean.
I'm assuming it would be trial and error but wasn't sure if anyone had already done it.
Thanks

Stick a UNI or K&N filter on the carb inlet...may have to raise the throttle/diaphragm needle in the top of the carb to make it run richer and adjust the air/fuel screw for idle

For the better ! I had mine replaced last year when I first bought my scoot (MC-27) ! More air in to the carb ! Better performance . Adjusting the carb after replacement will be needed . Bill C.

It depends on what your original filter is.. paper or foam.
On my scooter the UNI was terrible... caused bogging and hard starting...
Once I got it fully tuned.. I say very little increase in power and the gas milage was way down...
