The old green Tank finally died on the way home from work yesterday. Doing about 60mph and it started 'bogging' down. Pulled off the side of the road and shut her down. Rear whell spun freely, oil looked fine but now is locked up tighter than a drum. Had to carry it home in a cager. Will start tearing into it this weekend if I have time. Any quick suggestions? I'm thinking worst case scenario of a seized motor. 13,000 miles and it was running great.

Holed one piston kicked it a few( lol not the bike, the hick starter, replaced plugs rode home on 1 cyl. I was really hauling butt. Total rbuild. Keep the faith it will be cool.

Since I'm going to be rebuilding, thinking of 'beefing' it up a little.

Sounds like you have had a 'soft seize'. Try popping the plug and filling the cylinder with penetrating oil and leave it for a few days...
Perhaps due to ring failure?

That's what I was thinking. Those 13,000 miles are all 60+ mph. Thinking on going the next size larger on the cylinder and piston. Just printed off the disassembly manual from the 'library' and going to 'wade in' this weekend.

When I first read the thread topic... I thought it may have been related to the Boston Red Sox.

Rod was seized to crank. Ordered new rod/crank assembly, next size larger cylinder and piston and just to be on the safe side a new oil pump and gears. The nice thing is that all I have to do is drop the engine and take it to one of the guys I work with. He's always rebuilding motors in his boys' dirtbikes so all it is going to cost me in labor is a 'case'. I could do it but would probably take twice as long and have left over nuts or bolts.

Change out the main crank bearings for Timkens or NTN. Use ABEC 7 or ABEC 9s if you can afford them...
