I have had enough problems with my 54B that is was time to retire it and leave it alone. I have come to the conclusion that it will never run right for longer then a day or two. Sick and tired of doing this, doing that, etc, etc, etc. It's simply a POS.
There is no cure for it, it's terminal. The only two things I haven't replaced is the POS engine and the kitchen sink. I can't remember a day that I didn't remove the seat. A week hasn't gone by without removing the bottom plastic panels.
I may leave it at a Chinese scooter shop and let them have it all summer and try to find out what's wrong with it, or I'll sell it as a scooter in need of a mechanic.

LOL After saying how crappy it runs, this forum is not the place for me to sell it. To answer the mileage question 5200.

wow, sorry to hear it. I haven't had any problems with mine since I initally had it fixed (carb was gunked up.) Of course, I only have 200 miles on mine since it is brand new. I hope I have better luck than you did with yours. Really a shame. So, what kind of scoot are you thinking about purchasing?

I'm sorry to hear you are retiring it, it really is a sharp looking scooter. I might be interested in buying it for parts I'm just a short haul over the hill in south east TN.

mcalli, It's not only the problems I've encountered with it, it's what needs to be constantly removed to get to a problem, if that is the source of the problem. I have 3 cars, well one is in storage for the grandkids collage education.
Right now the scooter is sitting in the garage, the seat is off the bottom side panels are off, the carb is off after it's 3rd cleaning, and the intake manifold is off. The problem with it seems simple, but it's not. It either idles at 2300 or 1500. No inbetween at all. I can tell you this have no fear as to turning out the A/F screw as it can go at least 8 turns before it comes out.
Anyway, I have tried the A/F from 2 to 3 turns out and it's like it does nothing at all. Less then 2 it will stall and not start. 3 turns out and it runs the same as 2 1/2 turns out. The intake manifold has no cracks in it, the air box has no cracks in it. The air filter is clean as a whistle, the gas filter is brand new. The plug is brand new, the coil is brand new, and the CDI is brand new. When putting the screw driver on the throttle screw it takes the smallest fraction of a turn to either increase the idle or lower it. Plus it takes a minute to either increase the rpm or lower it. All this done with a hot engine after a run. With that fraction of a turn the idle will go up to 2300 or down to 1500. It runs best at 2300 however it's too fast as it will force the rear wheel to engage.

speed racer it sounds like it could be carb or valves , if your really want to fix it it can be fixed , if you want to sell it I would buy it . I will do the best I can to help you get it running , if thats what you want to do .

John, I am thinking carb rather then valves. What I am going to say will make no sense to anyone, but when I cleaned the carb the second time I drained the gas out of the bowl by opening the screw connected to the CVT cover and it ran it with a orange tint. The carb bowl was clean when I took it off. Now the third time I cleaned the carb was a few days ago and again the gas from the bowl had a orange tint to it. Now I'm thinking I have bad gas so I take a measuring cup and pull off the fuel line after the filter and it runs out clear like water. All the fuel lines are Goodyear including the drain line on the carb bowl. How on earth does clean gas turn into orange gas from the pump to the carb bowl?

They put grease in the drain line to keep it from leaking and when you drain it, the grease rinses out. I had one carb that wouldn't drain so I removed it and blew a wad of grease out of it.
You need a valve adjustment. Try it, you'll like it.

Question since it is water cooled is there a water line or something that you have connected to the carb. Some I remember had coolant also running through the carb. Just a thought, is your coolant orangey in color by the way? Alleyoop

Alley, there is no way any coolant can get into carb. I have Prestone in it so it's more yellow and not this orange color. I poured some of it on a plate to evaporate but it left a tint to the plate that you could rub off with your fingers. Yet the inside of the carb bowl was dry and clean when I removed it. I am baffled by it. I need to know what that crap is so I will put the intake manifold and carb on tomorrow, fire it up and then drain the carb bowl again and if it is not clear I'll take a picture of it.

CE, the drain line was changed when I bought the scooter last August. The valves were done a few months ago, so it's not the valves.

Fuel from tank after fuel filter. Probelm? Installed old fuel pump and will see it that changes anything.
