Hey guys,
Finally getting ready to replace my stock rollers (not sure what weight they are) with some 17g sliders. A few quick questions:
1) Can someone give me the link to the HF electric impact wrench you all use? I was down there the other day and they had a few different ones, all with different torque abilities.
2) Do you use the above gun just to remove the bolt, or also to install it? If to install, how many 'whacks' do you give it?
3) If I were to do this without an impact wrench, how tight do you tighten the nut back on?
Thanks y'all!

While I can not answer the question of the Electric impact I use an Air Impact to take the Variator nut off then I start it back on by hand then finish off with Impact wrench.

Ditto for me. I actually hand tighten then use a 19mm wrench then 3 whacks with impact. Start engine with eye on nut and hand on kill switch in case nut comes loose.

If you mean the Harbor Freight electric impact wrench DON'T bother! I bought and it couldn't do it. I had to go to a cycle shop and get it loosened. I tried to loosen it again later and it still couldn't do it. I ended up using a breaker bar.
Aren't you supposed to torque that nut?

Hi Yoster. This is the most powerful Harbor Freight electric impact driver: www.harborfreight.com/power-tools/drills/12-electric-impact-wrench-68099.htmlThe rating is 230 foot pounds in the owners manual. This would be the only one to consider in the electric models. I have the DeWalt model this is cloned from and it has worked great. I always use a torque wrench when re-assembling the variator. I go to 70 foot pounds. I also use a split lock washer, blue locktite, and a self locking nut.

That is the exact one I have and it didn't work. But maybe you'll have better luck.

Hmm, for some reason I thought everyone recommended only using an impact wrench and not a torque wrench (for reasons I can't remember). Probably another case of bad scootdawg info lol. If a torque wrench will do the job then I'm game. Thanks for the info guys.
