Hey Docs, my 250B's rear wheel won't stop spinning at idle. I set the idle speed, mixture, and also put in my Dr Pulley sliders. I am getting a rattle sound from the transmission area - variator and/or clutch. The belt doesn't seem to be going down far enough in either the variator or the clutch pulley.
What are ya'lls thoughts?

I pulled the variator again. Not sure if I placed the sliders correctly the first time. When I looked at them, some were nicked. I reinstalled them in the correct position and bolted on the variator. I then ran the engine again and immediately hear the rattle noise that has turned into a 'banging' noise. I put my ear near the clutch, I am pretty sure that is where it is coming from. That may explain why the rear wheel never coasts.

What happens when you try to spin the rear wheel while on the centerstand (engine off)?

DOH! I didn't do that test.
Tell me about the clutch arms. I pulled the clutch off and I am able to move one arm, but it is very stiff. The other two arms won't budge.
Another note: when I had everything put together, when I ran the engine with the scooter on the center stand, the rear wheel would bounce like a wheel on a car with a bad shock absorber.
About buying a clutch assembly, I can't seem to find one with the exact dimensions.

I had this happen once. Seems when I was putting on the variator I slipped and a couple dropped out of place so the belt was not in the pulley correctly so the clutch was engaging early.

I can see how incorrect variator assembly could effect the clutch, but in my situation my rear wheel as spun at idle since I brought this $300 scooter home.

I sprayed off my clutch assembly with cleaner so I could get a closer look. I found two of the cast loops on clutch arms were broken which mean there was no place to hook the springs. The whole unit was unbalanced as it operated. I ordered a new assembly from scrappydog last night.

turtle how is that new scrappydogscooters clutch? Working good? Is it slipping at all?
I'm thinking of ordering one too if it's good.

I hadn't noticed any slipage, but I haven't ridden it much; just some errands around town. It holds well in city traffic from light to light. It seems like a good value seeing how other clutch assemblies can cost twice as much.
