Well first of all, I am sooo happy that my scooter has been running so well. I did the "cruiser mod" (as I call it) tonight.. disconnecting 1 of the 2 headlights and putting it on a switch. Man that was one of the easiest and best mods I've done. That, coupled with the removal of the diode and upgraded RR has got me cruisin' in the charging department now. I can chill at idle with fan running and still hold a 13v charge (1 headlight on). 2 is good, but dips a bit at idle, so this allows me to control that.
Anyway, I swapped out my 23g rollers for 20g yesterday. The shudder I previously had on takeoff is completely gone.. acceleration from 0 to 20 is noticeably quicker, \midrange power (20-40) seems about the same.. maybe SLIGHTLY less, and upper end power (40-70 indicated), is in the crapper.
I know they say, lighter rollers = more acceleration but lower top-end.. but then others here have argued that.
So, the question.. if I swap these 20g rollers out for 20g sliders, will I re-gain all the mid to upper range "umph" I had before with the 23g rollers, but still have the nice low-end acceleration of these 20g rollers?

Go with 21gram Sliders, reason is Sliders only Change your RPMS by 200-350roms and rollers from 500-600. So with 1 gram heavier Sliders you will be running the same rpms as with the Rollers Plus due to the Sliders being 1 gram heavier your top end will improve(Win Win). Alleyoop

Well I could actually still go a bit higher in the RPM department. I know Cruiser uses 19g sliders, so thought a bit heavier (20g) might work for me.. I do more flat road trips but would still like the lighter weight in case I feel like heading up to the mountains sometime.
Generally speaking, would 20g sliders have better top end than 20g rollers, just due to their design?

I would say yes. With 19 gram sliders, I have better acceleration through 40 mph with no lose of top end. I would say acceleration above 40 mph is about the same as the original rollers. Really nice response below 20 mph. The original rollers were 23 grams.

I had 23g rollers and my top speed was 68mph. I changed rollers to same size 23g sliders and top speed is the same 68mph. Nothing changed on top speed but it accelerites much smoother.
Maybe 23g is so heavy already that it won't give you more top speed anymore?

The CfMoto clone engine develops max horsepower at about 7500 rpm. I would guess that with either the 23 gram rollers or sliders you are not hitting 7500 rpm at top speed. Maybe 7000 rpm with the rollers and 6800 rpms with the sliders. The engine isn't developing enough power to push higher than 68 mph even though you are not at redline or max rpm.
The best variator weights would allow the engine to rev a little higher at top speed in order to try to match the top speed to the point at which the engine develops max horsepower. I think that with proper weights you should be able to get 2 to 3 more mph.

We have the 244cc cfmoto. 13g or 12g in ours wouldn't be a good idea The Linhai also puts out a bit more power than the cfmoto, so a well tuned un-modified Linhai will typically hit 70+, while the cfmoto is typically a few mph under it. Mine maxes, in stock form, at about 68mph, which is about on par for these engines on this scooter.

Yeah, the Linhai use 8 rollers, 20x12 size. I get best allaraound results from mixing stock 16 gram with 14 gram, 4 of each alternated in the variator.
It's a little sluggish on take off, but RPMs hold steady and top end is 70 at 6000 or so.
Next stpe is to order some 15 gram, and see if the low end will snap it up a little.
I would suggest you mix 3 23 and 3 20 grams and see if you can get an even rate.

U all have the 244cc cfmoto clone? I got stock rollers on my MC-13-250 (Bali 250) and have hit 72mph with little throttle left. That was GPS (the stock speedo is off) I only weigh 120lbs and was on flat ground but figured I could of hit 75mph. I bet once I get into changing roller weights or sliders I can hit 80mph with my little butt on it! LOL
