I have a 2004 Vento R4I Phantom. At the front of the CVT is what looks like an air filter. The rubber body of it split and fell off. I have it, but I cannot find the part number to replace it. I can't even find it on any diagram.
Anyone have in idea?
Thanks in advance

Is it the air intake of the CVT cover? Many people run it without that filter...since it reduces the cooling of the clutch etc... without it the CVT runs MUCH cooler. I just removed mine because the screen was getting plugged up with dandelion fluff!
If you are concerned about rocks flying up in there or if you ride dirt roads, you can just cover the opening with a piece of black plastic window screen and hold it in place with a zip-tie... works well. however you need to check it once a month and clean it if required...

Being in south Louisiana, heat is certainly an issue. Window screen will keep larger debris out, but what about dust? I dont ride off road or non paved roads. It seems to me that the cvt would get enough dust in it to start to wear on things that should'nt be worn on.

There was a period where they put filters on these things and now most of the newer scooter simply have a piece of screen... I don't think dust is an issue, I think heat is far more of a problem...
My 2009 Lifan just had a screen...
Most dust just blow in and blows out the back vent...
Another idea is to add a piece of vacuum cleaner type hose on the intake and run it up higher so it gets clean air flow...
I think this is unnecessary really...

This topic has come up more than once. Everything in the CVT is a wear item. Everything is meant to be replaced as necessary when the time comes. It's like brake pads, tires, and fan belts.
The amount of dust and debris being generated by the normal wearing of the belt, weights, and clutch is a lot more than the normal amount of road dust you might run into. These parts are also spinning at high speeds so they tend to throw off any external dust that might be introduced into the CVT by a cooling inlet. An inlet screen is a good idea to keep larger debris out. The screen is also better than a filter for allowing cooling air through the CVT. Good ventilation of the CVT will contribute more to longevity of parts than a filter which stops both dust and air circulation.

it is a very popular mod to open up the cvt cover to help cool the belt and clutch. attachments.proboards.com/11599/scootdawg/XBKqDw0zif7e_s6cHEDM.jpg this is not my scoot but i mine is the same way. the cover is MUCH cooler after a ride than the stock (almost closed) cover. i have not had any probs with this and my belts last longer. no problems in the rain either.

Ya some people here make a design on the computer and then transfer it to the CVT cover with a drill and drill press... I saw one the other day and they guy had mounted LEDs inside the cover so the design glowed blue at night... very cool

So I have a question about this. I for the life of me can't get the cover back on with the kick start installed. I have measured it out and if I take a band saw to the front snorkel of the cvt cover it will line up and I won't have to wrap it around the frame to get it installed. Anyone try this ? Should I have any concerns. The snorkel is well hidden behind the frame and passenger foot rest.

Try attaching the kickstart lever and wiggling it a bit to get the case back on. That seems to be the trick on mine.

it can be a pain in the arse, but if it came off it will go back. try removing the last bolt on the lower plastic to give it a little wiggle room.

The first time I went into the CVT cover after 2k miles I found the friction surface to be almost completely glazed over. I think some of the belt dust melting against the clutch bell was the root cause. I did a little modification to the cvt cover and it helped tremendously. I think the look is cool as well....... RSH
