I really want gates powerlink after 3 cheap slipping and stretched belt. Rather 918 size but 906 is also ok.

Ok. Now I am confused. I finally got 906 gates powerlink. Took about 100 miles and then it feels like it is slipping a little. Not as much as cheap belts, but a little. I also tested it with new clutch system which tells me that there is probably something wrong with the variator.

I have noticed that slipping is always happening when there is 4000-4500rpm no matter which belt I use. And also no matter am I accelerating or just cruising steady. When it is that certain rpm the belt is slipping a little.

Should I replace the variator roller cup? The pulley fan? Or both?
This is my fan. Does it look too worn?

That outer edge with thick black rubbercoating is where the belt lies when 4000-4300rpm. This makes me think that the reason for slipping is the variator and fan.

This is how the fan looked when I bought this. Maybe it's letting variator heat too much because of lousy cooling capabilities.

This makes me also think that maybe those cheap belts are good for use if the problem really is in my variator.

Stock, Polini, Malossi, Dr.Pulley, J.Costa... Hmm... Prices are like stock $50 and rest $200-$300.

There is also vented variator, but doen't that eat belts?

I found new and complete variator from UK which is near me. Shipping might be fast.

It was like 54 usd. Not bad. And looks like stock variator. Measurements are the same. I checked them.
I hope this will help me with belt slipping. If this is not helping. Then it must be a feature because I have new variator and new clutch

I hope that belt holds up because that is a Knock off Powerlink belt it is not a genuine powerlink.
There are a lot of fraudulent belts out there.

I thought it might be but I could not find the genuine powerlink and I need one now .... all I could find was a 906-22-5 that look like a gates genuine powerlink

Well I got my belt today it has the little letters on it so I did not get a real powerlink. Will try it tomorrow. @#$%^&*()

Cleaned the glaze off clutch plates then took the variator apart and clean all the grease out and clean the rollers weights put it all back togeather with my new belt and it runs nice and smooth at take off .... hope that will take care of that for a long time. The new belt was the same belt that came on my scoot It said Gates powerlink(r) I don't know what that R stands for that after powerlink. Anybody know??

The 906 will work for you. It is only 12mm shorter. You will get a bit more punch on take off but loose a little top end with a shorter belt. Anyway it will work on your scooter if you need a belt and can not find the 918.

I have a 2009 Redstreak navigator 250 and dealer took my 918 off and put 906 on, no problem except the noise i have posted on...
