A general question if I may. When you guys put your tour box on your bikes, did you glue the rubber seal around the bottom, and if so, what did you use, please. There is no way my rubber seal is gonna stay on. It comes off every time I open the box. Thank you iin advance. Harleyann1

I have 2 identical boxes that came with my 150, (wrong color and the right color. ) I did stuff some rubber in the lower groove just to keep them from rattling. This fall would be a good time to find some real gaskets. that 3m trim stuff is the right way to do it too. apply to both sides gasket and trunk, let both dry to touch. just be sure to get it lined up perfect as it will not slide or move. GS motors said to keep the wrong color trunk and make a candy dish out of it! On my dirt road the 2 small scooters just rattle like crazy and I am resigned to just putting up with it. john
It would be a good time to add some LEDs to the trunks too for some better visibility from rear too. I always liked a blue dot tail light too.

girl, you can use one of those transparent silicone gasket sealers, cost 99cents in 99cents store and 5bucks @ wallmart.,,i never ran out of those sealers, it has many uses.,,the best thing is ,you can always remove the silicone sealers if you don't need it anymore without damaging the surface./ i use it sometimes in my plastics to dampen the noise cause by friction and vibration.,you can also apply it on top of bolts and screws to prevent them from loosening....hope this helps... it smells like vinegar but works good. bashan, i think the kiss is for me......i'm the only bachelor in this group..LOL!!!

the "spare" (black) was promptly installed on my 1983 yamaha riva 180cc scooter. I hope to repaint the scooter this fall and the trunk will stay as there is absolutely no storage on the riva. it does have a funky glove box. pastel and probably 2 tone,.... maybe the green background on this forum along with cream.
I'll bet those trunks did not cost more than $10 to $15 in quantity for the big sellers, they look nice hold a big helmet maybe 2 small ones and the cost of shipping (both ways) of the wrong color back and forth was probably more than trunk cost them. the riva had a thick wire rack behind the seat so I cut a chunk of 1/2 plywood to fit it then drilled thru bottom of trunk and put 4 sheet metal screws in to plywood.
before I got the 150 a few years ago I did a search for trunks for the riva and was able to find a few sellers that were around $35, you still maybe able to do as well today if you do some serious searching and calling. ebay ,then all known scooter sellers plus some of the out of china parts sellers. john

HarleyAnn, if you are talking about the rubber channel that goes around the top lip of the lower box, I had the same problem of the channel popping off when I lifted the top (lid) to get to my helmet and gloves.
I took a tube of general purpose RTV and made sure that it got down into the groove that goes over the plastic rim. I did not have it all over but as much as I could. I started on one end of the strip and did enough to go about a foot. Got that started to the box and then kept moving along with RTV and placing on the box. I then let the glued strip stay with the lid open so that I could come by and press down on the strip to make sure it was in place as the RTV cured. So now my rubber strip no longer pops off when I open the lid. .
