Whom will have the acv, so far no one does [/b][/quote] Well actually I think just about everybody does. Sprocket pointed out to me in a PM that he ran into a guy that didn't have one. He was at first skeptical but the guy showed him and sure enough he didn't. So it's rare but in the scooter world there's no absolutes.
I also believe like Alley that it's probably not the ACV valve and I thought you should just pull the diaphragm and inspect it. However I did think it needed to be ruled out. No biggie, you ordered one, that will definately take that off of the table. We're getting there. Rich

Ok, I could see the exhaust leaking, the most exhaust noise still comes from below my feet, if course it's same place my backfiring is coming from. I really do need a new muffler, it was on it's last leg right after I got this scooter. I think the exhaust is traveling the path of least resistance, I think the muffler is stopped up, so it's trying to leave through the exhaust manifold.

Also I couldn't order an acv valve. Are they the fuel diaphragm, because that is all it comes up as under a parts search.

Good, I told you it was probably the header pipe leaking. So get a new exhaust and muffler or just the muffler but you need to get a new gasket for the Header Pipe so it does not leak where it attaches to the Motor under your feet and your backfireing will stop. Bad Muffler or NOT the backfireing will stop.
Forget about the ACV Get that out of your mind. Besides if it goes bad just get a new carb, because IF you can find an ACV for the 24mm Carb it will be very expensive and for $20.00 more you can have a whole new carb. Alleyoop

GREAT FIND Drjeff, good job
It is really a shame what some sellers sell the carbs for, if you buy them in quanity they pay little over $11.00 from china per carb. Alleyoop

Seanstr, Great, that should fix your backfireing and lean leak. Now be carefull when you put the Header back on DO NOT CRANK on tighten the nuts on the Head STUDS Just nice and Snuge. The If you tighten the nuts on to STRONG the STUDS will Break and then you will have more work to do to get the Broken Stud out of the head and then get new studs.
So just NICE AND EASY AND SNUGE, TO hold the gasket on put a little RTV on it so that you can get the Flange on the Studs nice and even. Then screw on the nuts a little on one and a little on the other you want to bring the FLANGE up even on both sides. DO NOT tighten on one nut and then go and tighten the other.
After that you can put on the MUFFLER on the pipe. Alleyoop

,That I knew, dad is a chevy mechanic for 35 years, but not a scooter mechanic, besides, he retires in 3 & half years. I'll re-do fuel/air mixture, & idle. I want it as lean as possible. But I'll wait until I get the parts on first. Either way I needed the muffler.

These scooter need to run on the rich side...run it lean and you will find a hole in your piston sure as sh!t
Yup you need a muffler because you need some back pressure.

Ok, but how lean is too lean. So far I've only gotten 70mpg, I should be able to 90 to 100

Also understand the odometer is probably in Kilometers.. not Miles...so you need to do a calculation
Don't believe the sales pitch...
These engine are not very efficient actually... and 70 mpg on the odometer is fairly good...run 87 AKI octane you may see an improvement

Really kilometers, I'll have to check that out, I only get that if I go slow, always under 45mph. Then I get 70 mpg. Only 53mpg if I go 55mph to keep up with normal traffic. So what is too lean?
