It should run just fine just keep checking to see IF it is still leaking fuel and from where. It may have been something sticking and know its ok. Alley

Ok, so for the first 2 days after I got my scooter up and running again, it did well, had that one problem starting on a cold morning, but it could have been that or something else I dont know but it hasnt had a problem starting since.
The past 2 days however I noticed that when I start it, i have to let " warm up " with a tiny bit of throttle for about 15 seconds before I can take off or it will want to die. Then it will "lag" for the first block or 2 Im riding so I go slow and then increase speed (baby it ) then it seems good.
Today I noticed it is lagging a little when I drive it even when warmed up a little. Its not as bad as a bog or a chug or a sputter but more like it just gives me attitude when I want to give it gas. Lacking in the power department I guess you could say. If feels kind of like how it would feel if you were driving into wind blowing straight at you from the front, like a tiny bit of resistance to giving normal power. Not serious, but noticeable.
Today I noticed if I was at a stop sign or a red light (idle w no gas it would want to die or die if I didn't keep my hand on the gas a little) OR it would idle very slow. Yesterday it was doing this but not as bad ( wouldnt actually die) and the day before that it was pretty much fine so it slowly got a little worse.
Im thinking I may need to adjust the A/F and idle again. I just did this 4 days ago when I got it up and running though, could I need to adjust it again already?
Im thinking maybe since its gravity fed w the manual fuel shut off that as the gas tank level gets lower the pressure keeps changing for the gas flow and maybe that is what is causing me to need to make another adjustment? (if i need to) I dont know, just a wild guess.
I could top off some gas to build the pressure up a little to make the gas flow down better but id like to get rid of the gas in the tank before starting a fresh tank of gas since it was sitting in there for a couple months.
I know my scooter has always felt like it ran best on a full tank, wheather it be the petcock or manual fuel system and for this scooter and my last.
Should I try to adjust the a/f and idle or something else? Trunk still not latching, not worried about it at the moment and turning signal behaving lately so thats good. Thanks!

If it wants to die when coming to a stop and lack of power, IT is time to Adjust the Valves. Those are Classic symptoms of tight valves and also will cause hard startings. Alleyoop

Ok. I know how to do that. I'll try it. Thanks! Update: Ok I adjusted the valves to .004 top and .005 bottom. If i hear tapping I'll go down to .003 and .004 or so. I don't know if they were too tight to begin with because my dumb arse shoved the feeler gauge between the bolt and the other thing you turn after you loosen the bolt and was like oh wow, ya way too tight. So I unscrewed the bolt then realized the the feeler gauge goes farther back ( its been awhile) LOL. So not sure where it started at but I made sure the top one ended at .004 the bottom one seemed to already be at .005 thank God because that one is harder to reach. I'll test it out next time I go to use the scooter. (tonight or tomorrow) I know ill prob have to adjust the a/f and idle screws again now

Ok so a simple valve adjustment turned into a nightmare. I adjusted the valves yesterday to .004 top and .005 bottom, knowing i may have to tightgen if its making a tapping noise and then may have to adjust a/f and idle screw. Started it today to test it all out. Took me about 3x to start it, got it running, drove it about 1/3 of a block and it was tapping like crazy. Turned around, went home, opened up the valve cover and to my horror, the nut on the top was MISSING from where u adjust the nut to turn the knob inside the nut to adjust the valve. GONE. Not in the valve area cover, no where. So I have to get another nut that matches the bottom nut. However.. the scary part is there could be a nut flying or sliding around behind the valves. Isnt that the engine? That sounds like REALLY bad news. I must not have had the nut on tight enough. I used the adjustable plyers. I should have used them and then the socket wrench to further tighten it. Am I super fuked? Off to get a new nut for now... on the bicycle Worst luck EVER w this scoot UPDATE: Bought a replacement nut ( and 2 extra because they were just 37 cents & who knows if this will ever happen again w my luck. ) I looked all around the valves with a flash light to try to see if I saw the nut somewhere in there but nope. It doesnt look like it could have gotten far unless it flew back and behind the chain. I only drove it 1/3 of a bock. Im surprised it could have untightened itself and FLOWN off that quick. Does the valve area vibrate or move that hard/fast. Im guessing it must.

OUCH!!! The nut is down in the Crankcase If the nut gets caught between the chain and the Crank Sprocket crap will happen. You should get a long flexiable magnet and try to fish it out. And yes the things are moving rather quickily under the Valve cover the Cam and chain are moving really fast as will as the Rockers moving up and down really fast.
Have you tried to start it yet? Alleyoop

I haven't tried to start it since I drove it 1/3 block this morning, heard it tap then got home and took the cover off to readjust the valves and saw the nightmare. I think I may have a magnetic strip. Ill try to see if i can find it with that. thanks.

Oh I know. I can't believe the nut came off. Its not like I didn't tighten it. I guess just not enough. So I stuck the long magnet all in there. It was like a 9" long magnetic strip. I couldn't fish anything out. I looked in every crack, slot, groove I could with the flashlight and I didn't see the nut. I looked under scooter and below where the cover goes in the scooter to see if I droped it when I opened the cover but nothing. It must have shot off and gone exactly where I'd least want it to.
Would it be wishful thinking that all I have to do is loosen a couple nuts near the valve adjustment and pull it off from the front and be able to get in there to look further? LOL.

No, there is nothing you can take off on top to make it easier. Did you stick that manget down by the chain all the way down into the crankcase.
Are you sure it did not fall out when you took the Cover off. It is a small nut and dark in color at that. Alleyoop

Yea. I stuck the magnet all the way back in. Its a long flat magnetic strip. I didnt feel anything or get anything out. I looked all over the ground and under where I took the coveroff to see if maybe it fell out when I took the cover off, I didnt find it. I took the other nut off the bottom one to bring to the hardware store to get a replacement nut so I know what I was looking around for. Figures I cant have more than 5 days w the scoot w out a problem. I don't even want to know how to get inside there. Im guessing its going to be a horrible pain in the arse.

To tell you the truth I do not think you have the tools and experience to take the stuff off to get in there. You see where the Fan is by your muffler will all that has to come off, just to take the Flywheel off you need a special tool. Then you have to take the stator out and then the Crankcase side cover off. You probably could do it but man O man that is a job and a pain in the arse as they say. I don't know what to tell you, you could try and turn the motor over BY HAND to see if anything binds and if not you could try and see if it runs better after you adjusted the valves. The nut could be in a spot where it will not do any damage. Alleyoop
