I have a Dash 50 with a Keihin carb, 45/Pilot, 90/main. I changed the variator weights from 4.9g to 7.5g. I was trying to use a Uni Pod filter on it and I was too lean with the needle backed out all the way. I couldn't open the throttle very far or it would bog down. I put the stock filter back on and it ran fine, but I was wondering if I could get some more horsepower. I weigh 250lbs. Does anybody know what size main jet I should use to get the right fuel/air mixture cause I'm getting more air than I can use?

Very astute raford3, are you guys listening up?! If you put a new air filter on and it bogs it's TOO MUCH AIR. I don't know how many PMs I get from members wondering if they need to put on a performance exhaust too to get even MORE air flow in addition to the UNI when it bogs. Maybe some 50cc guys will chime in here, I've never owned one. But I can tell you that on 150s it's an incremental process and there's no hard and fast rules. I have a box of jets from 104 to 125 with every number possible in between. I've learned you never know when you're going to hit the magic number. Rich

What's a jet LOL. Just kidding. I got E.F.I., so I don't have to change jets. I use my laptop. But when I did have a carb. I got main jets that size from 80-105 and pilot jets from 28-45. The stock 72cc engine with 19mm carb had a 28 pilot and 80 main jets in it. With a free flow filter and stock exhaust I used a 30 pilot and 82 main. With free flow filter and supertrapp exhaust I used 32 pilot and 86 main. Each engine and carburetor is different. Other variables are altitude, temperature, ect.. What worked for mine may not work for yours. You will just have to try different jets till you find what works for you.

Generally you go up two jet sizes if your current filter is paper or cotton... You have OILED the UNI?
UNI filters are useless without the PROPER filter oil... motor oil is useless too

Hi, Thanks I was just using straight 40W as filter oil. I read there's a sock you can also use.

Engine oil doesn't work in air filters.. you need sticky filter oil.. or change your rings in 1500 miles... your choice...
