I took of the Variator for inspection and one of the weights fell out when I took it off, the other stayed in place. Reinstalled it and now the slipping problem is gone BUT a new issue has began. In the area of the Variator I hear a pecking or rattling sound as if the weight is not "seating" correctly in the slot. I am going to assume it is the one that was loose. Also when I do try and ride it, it bogs down until the RPM'S come up. Do I have the nut to tight on the variator? Shouldn't there be more than two weights? Also have to agree with Rich on the plastic guides.

Since I have gotten pretty good at taking the cover and everything apart and checking to see what the problem is/was, I took the variator back down and I did not find any plastic guides at all! I didn't see them yesterday and I am now very confused as to why they were never there. I am beginning to wonder if it were designed that way to end up breaking after a little bit of time.
I misspoke yesterday and there are 6 weights.
The knocking has gone away, the bogging down as well, but now the slipping is back just not as bad. While the cover was off i watched the clutch and the variator and they both move as they are supposed to. Would a new variator work better or just could it be the lack of guides that are affecting this problem.

No a guide the first. LOL, I even looked to see if there were remnants of chewed up guides and there was nothing. I asked my dad to make sure I was not wrong and he said there were no guides.

BUMMER!! no wonder your Variator is acting goofy. The Plastics guides make the Variator Slide in and out to squeeze the belt nice and smooth and even. I imagine you also heard a lot of rattleing coming from the Variator.
How is the Variator Metal Pole Guides make sure they are not broken seeing as how the Metal part of the Back plate was hitting them. Can you put a picture of the Variator where the weights go in just to make sure the metal guides are not in bad shape if they are then you would need a new Variator.
But you can order the Plastics guides they are cheap and order 2 sets 6 in total so you have some as spares. Alleyoop

It may appear to work for awhile, but I ended up shearing off the alignment pins and destroyed all the rollers in the process. Not to mention, I pushed the scooter a mile to a friend's house.

Yep you need a new Variator the metal guides are TOAST as they say. You will get to much play even with new Plastic guides. So get a whole new set Variator with guides and new set of rollers then you can FLY HIGH HIGH HIGH(HEHE). Ride safe Alleyoop
