Yes it is a GY6...HL means it is made by Hanglong a division of Zhejiang Hongzhou Motorcycle Co More here www.hongzhoumotor.com.cn/about.asphlmoto.en.made-in-china.com/company-Zhejiang-Hongzhou-Motorcycle-Co-Ltd-.htmlMany Chinese scooter use the GY6 design engine but there are many manufacturers, everyone copies from everyone else. It is an engine from the early 1980s that is based on a Honda horizontal engine, however Honda never made the GY6. The GY6 comes in a number of bore sizes from 50cc to 250cc and has a number of variations but probably 90% of 12-13" wheel, 150cc engines are a standard GY6 longcase. 16 " wheel scooters use a GY6-B engine and they have many differences internally.

Is there any article that describes the specific differences between a GY6 and a GY6-B? My 16" tire Znen Flyscooter uses the 16" tires and I believe that it has that special engine...buying correct parts is a crapshoot.

You can see the difference here. Note the width and the extra gear box on the B engine Attachments:
