I got as replacement stator while on vacation. Put it in yesterday. Went out this morning and put the muffler on. Filled the tank with some 93 octane gas. Tried to start it. It finally started but would only idle at 1,200. I gave it some gas and it died. Started it up and same thing. Looked at the gas filter and noticed it wan't full it had just a little bit of gas in it. Anyone know where the wire from the gas pump goes? I wonder if I have a bad connection? I sure hope 2012 is better for me and my trike.

Well it appears you have a Fuel Delivery problem. What beside the Stator did you remove or try to adjust. Check for Air Leaks around the Carb,by the Clamps where it attaches to the Intake and as well by the Air Filter side, Cracks in the Intake Manifold, or hose going to the Air Filter, maybe a Vacuum hose came off or is leaking.
Also when was the last time you adjusted the Valves, they do tighten up and will cause the motor to loose compression and will effect the amount of air and fuel it sucks in.
If it has some miles on it and you have not adjusted the valves that is the FIRST thing you want to do. Most will mess with the Carb and try to compensate the lack of air and fuel due to tight valves. Then when you adjust the Valves you AGAIN have to re-adjust the Carb because now it is way off. If you need to adjust them adjust the TOP INTAKE VALVE to .004 inches and the BOTTOM EXHUAST VALVE to .005 inches. Alleyoop

The only thing I've touched is the muffler and the side cover. I may just bite the bullet and take it to a local scooter repair shop. He said he had worked on a few of these. All it will cost is some money. The tach says I've got 1.5 hours on the engine.

Ok, then that just sounds like something is not connected or came loose or the carb needs to be adjusted.
I can run you through adjusting your carb if you like, and if you can take pictures of the Carb area and hoses going and coming SOME come with the hoses connected wrong I crap YOU NOT. Let me see what is connected to what before you spend a lot of money taking it to a shop that will charge you some buckoos just for maybe reconnecting something or a simple carb adjustment. Alleyoop

Ger there is no wire to a gas pump... It is a vacuum pump and if the fuel filter is not full you have a vacuum leak to the pump, blocked filter, or blocked fuel line. You have a restriction for sure as you said you had some fuel in the filter and it did run - start

Yesterday I removed the filter. Today I'll blow out the line and install a new filter. Putting gas in is the only thing I did after installing the stator.

Ger just double check the vacuum lines also. I had one of the cheap clamp ons cut thru on me once and really caused a problem. I removed them all and replace the lines and use wire ties. If that thing was starting and you saw a little gas in the filter you are on the right track. If it happens again you will have to pull the gas tank and clean her out

I got it started 1) new fuel filter and hose 2) duct taped the fuel fill neck 3) punched a hole in the duct tape 4) blew compressed air in the punched hole 5) when fuel filter was filled I took off duct tape and replaced the cap 6) started it up and ran it around the block
Tomorrow I check to see if it's charging. Wish me luck

Yea always check your filter just look at it if you can and if it is BLACK it is most likely clogged from crap either from the tank or from pieces inside the fuel hose flaking off. Alleyoop
