OK - I didn't make New Year's Day. I intended to but the the weather didn't cooperate. Yesterday was beautiful so I suited up and went for the first ride of the year. Jan. 7 - new record for me. I went and rode for about 1/2 hour. Also did burgers on the grill. I'm liking Adams County!

The temperature here was 30 degrees and there were flurries. We needed a gallon of milk and something deposited at the bank so I dragged out the scooter. It wasn't bad for the twenty minutes I was out but I wouldn't have gone further. Hopefully the snow will continue to stay away and I'l get more chances to do milk and egg runs.

I've gotten old too fast. 50's are the new too cold for me. Luckily I live in South Florida where daytime 50's are rare.

OMG Ger! Too old!!! I'm 63 and the old bones feel it but I'll still keep riding. 45 degrees is about my cutoff point.

I just got back from town on my majesty. It was 30 degrees when I left. It's 42 now. I only went 5 miles but it was not cold riding at all, only the tips of my shoulders felt any cold. had 2 hooded sweat shirts under my leather jacket, I pull the hoods up between the collar and the helmet to seal out air. a scooter is definitely warmer than a bike. that was probably as cold a temp as I have ever ridden in with a motorcycle maybe colder. got home and it is way too warm in the house now! GET OUT AND RIDE. john

You got your compression back. Great. It's 13 degrees here right now. I'll watch football instead and hope for warmer weather soon.

compression came back with a good bunch marvel oil added to the oil.. still aint great but when I change oil I am going to stick some thing thicker in and possibly some non detergent so what is left of the rings gets clogged up! after sitting maybe 3-4 weeks it fired right up as if it was still warm from riding it. before I do any thing with the oil I am going to recheck the compression and decide then what to do. john

Not to hijack the thread, but you might want to find some 20W-50 synthetic. Marvel Mystery Oil is pretty close to synthetic and the synthetic oil might continue to loosen up and disperse deposits in the ring lands.

I found last sunday when I rode my majesty speed really didn't matter. The tips of my shoulders felt the cold and thats about it. I think I could have rode 20 miles with out a problem, during the day only though. Night riding for my when it is 30 out is not going to happen. It makes a whole lot of difference when you are sitting behind plastic and your legs are totally shielded and no skin at all is out. A motorcycle even a goldwing is no where near as protected, I know I had a wing in the 80's. john
