I am trying to remove the flywheel from my tao tao power max 150 and the tool just aint cutting it. Whenever I screw the tool into the magneto and tighten it down, and I begin to tighten down the other bolt to actually remove the magneto, the tool gets, misthreaded and will not allow me to remove the flywheel. This is frustrating!!!

I use a different style puller , it looks like a Y , I use the holes that bolt the fan on the flywheel . Let me see if I can find and take a pic of it .

Those are the steps I did exactly. Once the tool is in the flywheel, and eve tightened, as I am turning the bolt to back the flywheel off, the tool itself gets cocked to the left and will eventually just come out without having removed the flywheel. At first I thought it was something I did but after doing it like 10 times and having the same results happen if knew i knew wasn't me. I then thought the tool was not going into the flywheel deep enough, but that seems not to be the issue either. Confused and frustrated!!!

Are you Screwing the Bigger part onto the Flywheel threads? It screws on COUNTER CLOCKWISE it is LEFT hand threaded. You may have the wrong Flywheel Puller if it DOES not screw onto the flywheel if it is loose which would mean it is to small in diameter.
What motor is in there? Is it a CY6 motor get the motor type off the caseing. It should be like 157QMJ or 1P57QMJ or 152QMI or something like that. It could be the Flywheel is different on the Scoot. Alleyoop

As many times as I've did it I still usually start out trying to screw the puller into the well the wrong way. It's hard to get over a lifetime of brain train for "right tight". If you're doing that correctly then only a couple things come to mind. One is what Alley said, the tool is the wrong size or thread. It could be for a dirt bike, small motocycle, or dedicated for a particular scooter. Second, the threads could be toast on the puller or well.
Hey, it always cocks to the left?! That's weird, if it was the threads it would always be a different direction depending on how the crank or tool was turned. Same for the wrong sized tool, I'm stumped. Rich

come on guys , from what he says , it sure sounds like the threads in the center of the flywheel are gone . It could be the thhreads on the puller could be shot . I know when I use the puller I use I have to hold it in the up right position . Below is the type of puller I use , I ordered the one that threads into the flywheel . When it got here it was for a 50cc www.otctools.com/products/flange-type_pullerJohn

Use the proper flywheel puller DESIGNED for the GY6 Engine..anything else will usually ruin the flywheel or get it out of round... flange pullers just SUCK.... You may have the flywheel cross threaded or bent. make certain also the key is in the shaft. Any wobble when you spin it you need to replace the flywheel... they MUST run true Puller www.ebay.ca/itm/27mm-Magneto-flywheel-puller-gy6-125-150cc-152QMI-157QM-/280701496799Note the 50cc use a 24mm and the 125++ use a 27 mm
