My red scooter is coming along nicely . I have a exhaust leak that I'm going to work on know .I have a 157qmj .I think I want to replace the exhaust studs, gasket and the nuts too .I am looking at parts .One site shows a gasket for my engine the next site shows a metal ring looking gasket . Does anyone know which I have ? How hard will it be to replace the studs ? I was wanting to get all my parts together before I take it apart to make a Sat evening project out of the leak. Thanks for any advice

Either gasket works, but i don't use one i use high temp black rtv silicon market maker. i would go with the metal ring one though and maybe the rtv along with it. USE LOCK TIGHT ON THE STUDS AND BOLTS!!!!! I've lost about 3 sets of bolts and studs from vibration because i didn't use lock tight.

The gaskets that cover the entire Flange work better just in case the flange has some inperfections. When you do put the it back on bring up the flange evenly then criss cross snuging each nut up on the stud so it tightens up evenly. Alleyoop

Gasket maker not market maker. Stupid phone with its auto suggest... any ways, is not hard to change out, just please be careful as to not strip anything or break the studs in the motor. I've done that but was fortunate enough to get the stud out. After you get it all back together ( WITH LOCK TIGHT ) wait about 20 minutes before running the motor. After that go on a short ride or run the scoot on the stand for a while then check again to make sure the bolts are tight.

For those that don't like Loc-tite for some reason, use locking washers, the ones with the serrated edges and not just a single cut.

Loctite 2620 and 2422 are only rated to about 630 and 650 deg... I find it burns off...
Use a full face gasket as alley mentioned you will never have a problem...

Here is one thats a little better made of Aluminum. They are the best and you should not have any problems with leaks. Click on the picture to go to the website
