I really need your advice on a serious problem: I've been suspicious my wife has been having an affair for some time. The usual signs; phone calls hanging up when I answer, late nights out "with the girls", etc.
I try to stay awake to look out for her when she comes home, but usually fall asleep. Last night, about midnight, I hid out back near where I park my scooter. When she got home, she got out of someone's car buttoning her blouse and then took her panties out of her purse and put them on.
It was at that moment I noticed the rear wheel nut on my scoot had loosened and the rear wheel was wobbly.
How do I keep that nut tight?

you could use a bit of red loctite on it, or actually drill a small hole in the axle stem and put a split pin through it, that would stop it loosening right off and prevent losing it too

Or is it just really hard to wrench off? I had thought about the pin through it, but am not sure I have enough clearance between the nut and the bearing housing to insert a pin. This does remind me of an improvised repair I made years ago where a hole was drilled parallel to the shaft at the thread part line between the nut and the shaft. Used a pressfit roll pin to lock it down. Maybe I'll try that....

it's pretty good stuff. you need a bit of heat(only a bit mind) to release it at any point in the future. the split pin is a more secure option though(in my opinion anyway) good luck with whatever you decide to do and safe scooting

As long as I've got a tight axle nut, the rest just doesn't matter....

Mn , things in life you have no control of . What you have to ask yourself "can I live with this/get past it" . If the answer is no , then run as fast as you can ,don't look back .

I know this is going to sound crazy but it will work and work well. If you take the nut off and put two strands of wire out of a 10 gauge wire on the threads and put the nut on over the strands. It will stay put and come off without difficulty. I keep a 6 inch piece in my scoot all the time just in case. ;D Oh, and you mention something about your wife?

How can you tell if your scooter mechanic is nailing your wife?
Two of his fingers are clean.

How can you tell if your scooter mechanic is nailing your wife? Two of his fingers are clean. And if the other 3 are dirty, then you have a "biker chick" wife. She's not so bad after all.
