I still want to insist you get a compression gage and test the compressionn pressures. And overhead cam engine does not change valve cleanance much with changes in temperatures. Some people confuse .04" for .04mm. not the same. I mm is 1/25 of an inch. ( about)
A little valve noise is OK for awile. rather have a little noise to eliminate the possibility of to tight which really will screw up idle. Particularly an intake valve just a bit tight.

Not 100% sure I trust ATV. If you are too generous it squeezes out and has all sorts of pieces floating around in the tank. and it does seem to stay soft with the ethenol fuel most of us run. If I must use it, I try to keep it thin and away from the edges. lefty2

If you are stuck with 50cc you might consider some of tjhe better 2 strokes. Some of the top Italians will run pretty good. 2 t has it's problems of course, but tuned properly a 2 t will develope a good 50% more power than a 4t of the same piston diplacement. And of course a real transmission put more of that power tothe rear wheel. Betweenthe Honda nd the Ice bear, if i lived near enough to get it back to Jim, I would save the bucks and let Jim take care of it. BUT JIm is a long way form yu. I like Honda quality. Sure , theyr oare built in China, but to Honda' liking. Sorry your choices are so restricted.

I note they are saying the ruckus style top speed 55 MPH +- 5 and the conventional 85K (52MPH)
Like sprocket, I like CC's. I also like the bigger wheels and disc brakes. But I like the access for fixing on the fake rukus too.
But I sure would like water cooling. T\
Almost all 150gy6 are low compression Air cooled. They still run the oil so hot it tends to cook a little - if you run them for more than 5 miles on a hot day with all the emissions stuff hooked up.

Yep-terry is right on. the ring gaps also need to be stagered. all gaps shoud be as far apart as possibe. Top 2 rings (compression) gaps should be 180 degrees apart and bottom 3 rings ( oil control I like the top and bottom 180degrees apart and 90 degrees from center spacer.

Welcome. glad to have you. Let us know how to help you.
Make sure all the fluids are good quality. So change them ASAP.
Try to find a service manual. learning how to get the plastic on and off and how to service the mechanics are important. They probably are standard GY6 engines, so most any service manual will do. Under $10 will be a CD on eBay but learn to use the library here and download a free one.

I am very sorry to hear of her passing. Sounds like you have a great scoot. Do an extra oil change. The heat of long passages can "cook" the oil in these little Air cooled scoots.(watch for it to turn a little brown) A few breaks help.
We all want to know what scoot you are riding. It appears you have not even had to adjust the valves yet.
Good thinking to ride at night if you can. I am always a little afraid of not being seen. Do you think turning you right turn signal on for a blink or two when a car is approaching from the rear would help the driver notice you? I saw a bicycle with a blinking taillight the other night. Sure helped me see him on a busy highway.
Again sorry. Please tell us about your scoot when you get a chance. And thanks for sharing your adventure with us.

Sprocket it right. To much heat will destroy an air cooled engine. You really will not be fully broke in for a lot more miles. I would avoid synthetic oil for another 1000 km. But do change the regular oil often. check it every day and wipe the dip stick on a white paper towel and look for signs of it getting a little darker. The heat of 11 miles may actually overheat the oil a bit and cause it to lose some of it's lubrication qualities.
Sounds like a good 50. Baby it a little. 11 miles is a great ride if you are not in danger of being run over. I notice in our little village there are paved "shoulders" that the scoots seem free to use with no or very little conflict with cars trying to run 50 or so in 35 zone. I think the police prefer a smooth 50 because they make absolutely no effort to slow the traffic down. Gets a lot more cars through but it sure would intimidate me even on a fairly quick 150. it just is a stretch to keep up with 50 MPH traffic.

perhaps another example of too much confidence. I too think I can fix anything. Most of the time I come pretty close. But every now and then I meet a Waterloo.
Appears you have one or more intermittent problems. You said it. " push it off the stand"-" hit a bump or RR track"- perhaps gets heat soaked after "running a long time"
those are the kinds of problems that defy solution. I'd guess Porches rarely have those- and we sure hope few airplanes do.
Seems I heard this scoot has a bit more flex in the frame than some of us feel comfortable with.
What to do. I would get a lawyer to write a letter to the Manufacturer and the dealer. NOW!!!. Do not try to be the diagnostician. That is the MFG and Dealers problem. You have the right to expect merchantability of a new scoot. You have a right to expect reliability as long as you do not try to fix it.
Get smart real fast. You have a lemon till it is fixed properly.
