Well I got the carb off today .It was spot less.I also got the seafoam as advised .I added 2 oz per as label said .I also added the new NGK spark plug .I noticed when I was in the carb the jet was stamped #103 .I rode my scooter home from the shop about 4 blocks .It was in the 30's and spitting snow .Is it possible with that size jet that my scoot is running with to lean at those colder temps ?I still have the factory air filter ,but I do not think the exhaust is factory .It has ok take of , but at a very mild throttle it just bogs .I also found some more vacuum lines that needed replacing .I got that took care of to .Does any one have any comments for what would be next ?

Have adjusted your FUel Ratio on the carb? If not start it up and let it warm up on the center stand for at least 5 minutes so the ENRICHER cuts off the extra fuel(THEN):
What you want to get is the HIGHEST IDLE adjusting the Fuel Ratio Mixture:
Turn the Fuel Ratio Screw COUNTER CLOCKWISE 1/4 and wait for about 10 seconds and listen IF THE IDLE GOES UP REPEAT the process UNTIL on the Last 1/4 turn IT DOES NOTHING or IDLE GOES DOES DOWEN then turn it 1/8 CLOCKWISE and that should be the HIGHEST RPMS out of the Fuel Ratio screw and try it out.
If Turning it COUNTER CLOCKWISE(RICHENING the mixture) does nothing or lowers the IDLE then REPEAT the same process BUT CLOCKWISE(LEANING THE MIXTURE). Alleyoop

I tried to adjust it the best I could Alley. After making the adjustment it sure does crank a lot easier .I forgot to add that the spark plug was real white when I took it out to replace it .

Hmmmmmmm, yeah 103 or 104 is pretty standard stock jet size and should work well under most environments. That's what a CV carb is supposed to do.....adapt. What is your scooter doing right now that you don't like? Sorry if I'm a bit clueless to your problem but I've been preoccupied with admin stuff. Alley, CCProf, Sprocket, and the rest should be able to figure this out, their combined ages would reach back to the Planck epoch. Let us know what it's doing that you think is aberrant. Rich

Redrider, It is running LEAN just to be sure...MAKE sure there are no cracks or open inlets from the Air Filter tubeing and on the Air Filter Box causeing it to suck in EXTRA AIR.
If you adjusted the Fuel Ratio the best you could and it still is running Lean. You could try and RAISEING the Needle in the Diaphgram to allow more fuel in the lower to 3/4 throttle opening.
If after that it is still runnling LEAN then you have no option but to UP-JET. Since you mentioned you have a different exhaust it may be a free flow exhaust so get a 110 and 112 main jet. First try the 112 if that is to much then put in the 110. The Pilot jet you should not have to mess with.

If it's white tipped then its too lean, if its black, that's too rich. You want a brown tipped plug. Mine burns mostly brown with a hint of grey.

Don't know if you know about the Raiseing or lowering the needle but here it is: Alleyoop Depending on what kind of needle holder in the cylinder your carb has will depend on what to do to raise the needle. 1. Some needles have slots and a "C" clip those are easy, to raise it MOVE the CLIP DOWN 1 notch at a time and try it. 2. Some needles only have 1 slot in that case you will need to ADD a tiny washer to raise it. 3. Yet some needles are held by a plastic holder here again you will need a tiny washer to raise it.

Everybody is really helping and doing great.Let me say thanks in advance .Know last Sat I noticed that the air filter was turned up side down .I thought .Just by the way it looked and fit in the case .It is a small round element .One end has a hole about the size of a lemon ,my fist will fit in the other end .It had the small end facing down and the big end up facing to the top of the housing. So I thought with the small end on the bottom that it would resist air so I turned it over so the big end is facing down.I also replaced the variator the old one had a weight missing ,but I had the bog before I replaced it .When I pull out on my street my scoot takes a small amount of throttle ,then when I give it more throttle it bogs down and I have to weight and weight on the speed to increase .When I got it 2 weeks ago it ran good and had power

Appears you several problems, Get some tape and block off half of the small hole in the Filter. That will cause less air to be sucked in and maybe enough to not run LEAN.
It would be a good idea to take pictures of that AIR FILTER that is on there. Usually if you have an AIR BOX what you describe does not SOUND like a STANDARD Air Filter that came with it orginially.
Concerning the Rollers, What GRAM weights are they? Alleyoop

It probably start sat for a while and when you got a hold of it, putting more miles on it and using it allot after sitting up will result in stuff going out. Mine had 990 easy miles and then it sat up for about a year. I had to go through all of the exact things your experiencing to get mine running proper. Soon after is when i discovered Scoootdoc then everybody helped me with the fine tune.

That is a performance Air Filter letting in a lot of AIR and one end should be fitting into a Snorkel piece inside the Air Box NOT JUST LAYING IN THERE from what you said you turned it over. If you bought a complete Variator HOW in the world was it missing one ROLLER??
Please take pictures I think you have something installed wrong including the air filter. Alleyoop

The old variator had a weight missing .That's why I replaced it .There is a small rise in the air box that fits in the big end of the air filter ,but best I understand u guys are maybe telling me that my engine could be running great and it could all be in the weights in the variator ?I still have the old variator with the missing weight . Would it hurt to put it back on with one missing weight and run my scoot down the road ? If the bog is gone we will know its in the weights. It was a variator I purchased off ebay .Do most run roller weights or the slider type ? If it turns out to be the weights .I have know ideal what to size to buy or anything .Would it depend on my weight ?

Do not run with a weight missing that will cause an UNBALANCED Variator. The bogging IS NOT caused by your Variator that is Fuel Mixture problem or AIR LEAKS(causeing it to run Lean). No Leave the NEW VARIATOR on. To find out what gram the weights are you have to weigh one of the ROLLERS. If you do not have a digital Scale that can weigh in grams then take one weight to the POST OFFICE and ask them to weigh one of the rollers for you. Then you will know what gram weights came with the Variator. But I would imagine the description on EBAY should have mentioned what Gram weights it would come with.
Wrong weights will cause slow exceleration and from the way you describe how it acts SLOW TO GET UP TO SPEED they are probably to HEAVY and giveing you low RPMS(NO POWER). Alleyoop
