As far as the Fuel Gauge it is probably the float sensor inside the tank. The float itselft could be detirated and or taking on gas and will always register empty. OR the slider plate that holds the wire with the float is loose and does not make contact with the resistor plate. In all situations you will have to take the Float sensor out and check it. It may be that the locking push on washer is not holding it tight against the plate. And before you put it back in check it out connect it and move the float up and down a see if the gauge registers. Alleyoop This is the FULL Position: This is the EMPTY Position: Here you can see I put a Small Brass Collar with a setscrew to replace the push on washer:

Good one... take a tube of clear silicone and fill all those holes in the bottom of the dash panel... that will stop spiders and other critters setting up a home again

what was the mod you did alley? i noticed you had come up with a great idea to cure the false assumption that one has a full tank when they really only have a half tank because the float can only go up so far and reaches its peak at half tank. i have an issue with my reading, i top off and it says full untill my tank is under half. quite annoying to have to keep an eye on the mileage to determine when i really need gas lol.

BC, There is no fix for that situation and here is the reason: The swivel only moves so far up and so far down so the best you can do is don't worry about when it is registering full for a long time. You really want to know when your about to run out of gas. Because the float can only move so much up and down what happens is when you fill up your tank the FLOAT IS ALL THE WAY UP in the FULL POSITION "BUT" THE FLOAT IS ACTUALLY SUBMERGED UNDER WATER as the saying goes. That is why it stays registering FULL for a long time UNTIL the gas level goes DOWN and the FLOAT ACTUALLY IS FLOATING on top of the gas. So you can bend the wire that holds the Float up or down but like I said you really are more concerned when you are low on gas. If it registers empty and you still have gas you can bend the Float wire DOWN a little so when the gas is low it is floating on the gas. The way I did it is I took it out and held it on the side of the tank even with the HOLE that it goes in and BENT the wire so that when I have about 1 gallon left it registers in my SQUARE indicator on the gauge which tells me I have about 1 gallon left around 50 miles. Hope this helps Alleyoop I did a write up on erratic fuel readings a while back here it is: www.scooterdoc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=trike&action=display&thread=212
