twas a beautiful day, in fla, when all of the sudden, i said HEY!, to my dismay, i discovered that day, i had run out of tobacco to smoke, so i jumped on my scooter to bolt. well anyways, i was on the way to the gas station, and i noticed a slight sputter at 3K rpms while i was riding, but when i hit the gas it would climb past that and all was fine. it slowly got a little worse but not unbearable. after stopping at the store i decided to joyride before returning to home. 10 miles later i pull up at my house and all is well. that was at about noonish time. around 4pm me and my woman had to meet somebody who was about 12 miles away, so a round trip of about 24-25 miles. well we were on our way, everything was great, zipped in and out of traffic, peppy as usual. held WOT about a quarter of the way there, and the throttle for the rest of the trip was about 45-50 mph ( 3/4 ) well while we were talking to the person we had to meet, i decided to give my scoot a once over inspection. i pulled the plug to see what color it was to see if maybe it was too rich or lean which may cause a sputter, i checked the connection on my coil pack and the boot, made sure all wires on cdi were intact, after pulling plug, it was black but not wet black, so i turned it a 1/4 turn towards lean. checked for leaks in the intake, nothing there, and put her all back together. all in all it was about a 15 min job. after saying our goodbyes, we jumped on the scooter, it fired perfect. whatever i did almost cured the sputter at 3k but it was there just slightly less then it was before. got just a little over half way home, and the scooter started heavy sputtering, started to lose power, and we coasted off the road to a side street, it wont start now 
... first few attempts at trying to start the bike, black smoke comes out of the exhaust. all the bike does is turn over and at about half throttle, it seems like it tries to fire once or twice but it does not catch. after about 30 mins of trying to start it, the smoke turned into a grey/white smoke coming from exhaust. i figure it was just the unspent fuel in the chamber that turned it black and it just had to burn it out. back to the story, i checked over everything i had touched earlier when i did my inspection, everything checks out. i think one of 4 things went wrong.
1. the gas i put in the tank is bad. maybe carb sucked up some trash.
2. valves need adjusting as i just broke 3k miles a few days ago
3. jumped time and it needs resetting
4. my piston ring blew out due to the recent exhaust issues ive been having and not properly delt with.
im going to start at the easiest fix which would be the fuel and im going to work my way in. any advice or pointers would be appreciated as im exhausted today and i might forget to think about something. will be checking from my mobile
