my seat cable broke now my seat wont open.how do i get it opend??

Open up the front end and find the cable and pull it. You might need a new locking mechanism for the ignition since the cable was attached to it. If you can find a new cable just replace it.

no my seat cable is broke...so there is no cable to pull.

It might help if we knew what machine you have. So far it is just my back latch that is not working, so it is loose, but the side latch still works. I have a 2008 MC 54 250 with a 244cc upright engine. I hope someone helps you as I may one day need to know myself.

I just noticed that you have also posted for a 2007 Jonway 250cc. No mention of which engine. Not sure if 2007 and 2008 are the same.

I just looked at my machine. If I look up from under the left side panel I can see the two cables, lock to front latch and front latch to rear latch. Assuming that our scoot bodies are the same I think you can remove a couple of the side screws. One at the rear of the bottom panel and one behind the rider peg. Then flex the panel, and maybe find a cable end going to the side latch. Grab with vice grips and pull to open the latch.

Just a wild guess.

Hope someone more knowledgeable shows up.

pulled with vice grips and the cable broke on me..its a 2007 jonway 250cc.

Where is our expert. To get the side covers off to fix the cables the seat blocks several screws. I was just crawling around my machine looking for sneaky ways to get the seat off. Could not find any obvious ones. I was thinking of doing the seat bolts from underneath. But I can not even see them from underneath. I can see your frustration. I am afraid I may be needing the guidance myself as my rear lock does not work already.

Hope that expert shows up. Also, if you find a way yourself, please post the method.

I think if you remove your Air box you should be able to get at the lock release and move it by hand that way.

its that on the left side when you are sitting on the scooter?
and there was a rubber thing that fell off the last time i had my seat up.
will this make it hard to open the seat? could i hook a piece of wire in the hole on the latch?

Bed time for me. I will look at my latch tomorrow. Those latches have some strong spring driven parts so I would be very careful about putting fingers in there. Maybe as you suggested, a wire. Or maybe a screw driver. If that rubber piece was pushing up then maybe a bit of lift on the seat, a wedge or something, while activating the latch would help.

you might be able to take the underbody finder out over the rear tire and get to it good luck

OK, here we are with clever folks that can do a valve job at fifty miles per hour on the highway with no problems but no experts on opening locked seat when the cables are broken. ;D

This must be a pretty rare event or some would have come forward by now.

I looked under my seat and the only rubber part I found was a round piece hanging down near the front of the seat. And I don't have any new ideas. Scary with one lock broken and the other might be soon on my machine. I hope you do get help so you can help me.

A last suggestion. Have you tried other forums? If not try this one. Lots of folks from this forum also show up over there but you might also get others that don't come here so it opens up the chances of getting some experienced help.
