There is a canister or vacuum canister and there are two huge tubes that run from it. Is there a way to remove this canister from the scooter? I know where one of the tubes come from but the other is a complete mystery. Since I an not figure out where this goes.

The canister can be removed but you have to get a pvc valve for the vent tube from the valve cover does your motor a egr or non egr

That's undoubtedly a pollution device and they can all be removed but you can't leave any vacuum leaks. Roketafan asks a good question, we could use a little more info and some pics of the canister would help.

That sounds like the PAIR system...the canister is actually a carbon filter...it is VERY easy to flood that system if you overfill the gas tank.. so never fill it more tan 80% or you will be walking...

OK now with pictures I can see that is 'air' injection...I had a similar set up on the Lifan, although mine was run with a second CDI...(just weird). It is a bunch of pop valves and it lets a 'shot' of air into the intake manifold on the intake stroke...it is a way to lean out the engine I think... I just removed it and plugged up the small vacuum tube...
But if you remove it mark out where the hoses go so you can reinstall it if you need to...
Where do the big hoses run to?

That's the air filter for the air intake to the PAIR system. I can't stand the PAIR and I'd remove it all. Here is a pic from the top showing the PAIR canister and hoses on a 150. You can see your filter right at the end of the fresh air tube:
The vac line opens a valve which allows fresh air from the outside through the filter into the PAIR system. Then pulses from the exhaust side of the head pull in the air through the reed valve and S tube.
If you remove the whole system take all off the garbage off and plug the vacuum port on the exhaust manifold. Then you must block off the port on the head with a blocking plate. You can buy them from Absolutely Scooters or make your own out of some aluminum.

Yeah, there's variation on these between manufacturers also. Here's a pic of the PAIR off of my Motorino. You can see they skip the PAIR canister and just let the air pulse in after going through the intake filter. You an also see just a bit of the gas tank vapor system at the bottom right. Now THAT is a PITA and should be removed. Rich
