Good Morning everyone!
I am learning a lesson the hard way it seems. I am now at 3500 miles on my little 150 scooter with the cheap belt still intact. I bought a new gates belt this weekend and decided to install it. I cleaned out the case with brake part cleaner and now my transmission is slipping badly. The first few miles of the ride it would jerk on takeoff but seemed to be ok once it was moving but after 20 miles it was hard to get started off the line. Revs racing up to 5000 and 6000 RPMS and the bike is slowly moving until about 25 or 30mph then its normal for the most part. If I give it gas to get up a hill, revs up, speed starts dropping again.
I now read on here not to use the brake part cleaner in the CVT so my question is this, how do I clean this up? I suspect the clutch shoes / bell are where the slipping is occurring as I don't think the belt would have lasted 60 miles yesterday if it was slipping that bad. Do I just have to replace these parts now or is there something I can do to salvage this?

Might take apart the the clutch and use a degreaser (Simple Green - Motorsports or New II etc) Clean the clutch and pulleys and belt
Then roughen up the bell with 200+ grade emery cloth, sand the clutch pads and roughen up the pulley faces...

I have had no trouble cleaning the clutch and variator with brake clean. We do it at least 2 times a week in our repair shop on customers ride.

Ok, I ended up going by Monstergy6 on my way home today and getting a new clutch and roughing the bell up as suggested. When I took the clutch out the pads were completely slick and have turned black. I don't know what the brake part cleaner did to them, but I won't ever be cleaning the case until the clutch / bell assembly is removed. I have always used it and seems to dry instantly, but this seems to be one case where it shouldn't be used.
Anyhow, an 18 mile ride tonight and this problem is fixed hooray!
I love that my office is only about 3 miles from MonsterGY6. Stephen is great and I love having a shop / parts store so close to home.

THinking here that there was still crud in the bell and the brake parts cleaner had not dried before riding so it baked it. Another suggestion I read on another site was to put a teeny amount of graphite on the clutch pins amd also use a drill to clean up the three holes to get the crud out. TRHe graphite helos the clutch action and makes it smoother.
