Now trying to track down and embarrassing rattle from underneath, think its coming from the muffler ($100 part!)? Is this possible and/or can it indicate something else?

There are baffles inside, the welds break and the baffles rattle around, so it could be the muffler. Sometimes you can gently prod something long down inside the muffler while it`s running, to try and see if that makes a difference to the rattle.
Also if it`s coming from underneath, check the centre stand, some have a nasty habit of causing a rattle.

Had an annoying rattle on my Bali. It turned out that the rubber bumper on my center stand had fallen off and the stand was slowly hammering a hole in the underside of the CVT case.

Where can you get this rubber bumper. Mine is flat on one side  keep turning it over  need to get one soon. (also is there a trick to get it off, tried once and it didn't want to come off) |

Mine was missing when I got the scooter. I just cut a piece of hard rubber I had lying around, drilled a hole through the middle and bolted it to the bracket on the stand.
