I would say no longer than 30 days without some kind of stabilizer. I use my scoot year round so I've never had to use it in it, but I use it in my mower and RV. I have also heard a lot of people here at Scooter Doc rave about Seafoam because it is not only a stabilzer but seems to remove h2o, enhance prefomance and clean your entire fuel system. Wow. I need to try it myself.

Ok good, I was asking cause I am in Florida and have about a third of a gallon of gas in my scooter back home and the gas will just be sitting there for five days and I wasn't sure if that was too long for gas to just be sitting.

You can leave the gas in the tank for months, the problem is the carb the gas after months turns to varnish and cloggs up the tiny passages. If you are putting it away for the winter If you can start it up and run it for about 15 minutes once or every couple weeks it will start right up in the spring when your ready to ride. I put 1oz of seafoam for every gallon of gas all year round, never to this day since MARCH of 2009 have I had to clean the carb out. All I do is adjust the Fuel Ratio for the summer LEANER and for the Colder weather RICHER and that is all. Alleyoop

Ok that is Great! I got worried that it wouldn't run after sitting for just five days. Where do you get seafood, and is it expensive?

Fuel stailizers work but not nearly as well as the manufacturer claims. I wouldn't trust stabilized fuel for more than 6 months and that's in the can, not the bike. Don't let the bike sit for more than a couple months before using the drain on the carb to empty it. Also, and this is very important, the stabilizer can go bad. In the case of Stabil, if it turns dark red, even a little bit, it's worse than a tank of bad gas. My advice would be if the bike is going to sit for more than a few weeks, drain the carb, or the whole system if a couple months is ahead.

The problem I keep having is that when I shut down an engine I don't know for sure I will start it up tomorrow morning or it will sit for 2 weeks or more while I use a different scooter. I use seafoam and l also have some startron sitting there and this time of the year need to use them all the time.
