Myself52, The Belt should NOT BE IN THE CENTER OF THE VARIATOR that is A PROBLEM. Also the BELT in the CLUTCH PULLEY should be NEAR THE TOP NOT DOWN into the PULLEY. Can you maybe take pictures or a VIDEO on how the VARIATOR is going on the Crank. Something is NOT RIGHT IF the belt is ALREADY HALF WAY up the Variator and ALREADY PULLING the clutch pulley open and the belt is down in the Clutch Pulley. Here is my CVT look at the belt. On the Clutch pulley it is at the top and in the Variator it is down. Alleyoop

With the scoot on the center stand, I don't think the engine should stall when accelerating even if the variator is messed up. Did you try running the engine with the CVT belt off to see if it accelerates normally? 2nd this John

Ok, What it may be is your DIAPHGRAM is ripped so when you give it throttle it is not raising the needle out and all your getting is AIR and no fuel, Or the needle fell out from the Slide. Here is what you need to take off and look at the RUBBER DIAPHGRAM for rips or tears. Don't even have to take the carb off just the two cap screw. Alleyoop

I hope that is it since you wound that sucker out going downhill it may have ripped the Rubber Diaghpram .
BUT i still do not like the way the belt is TO FAR DOWN on your rear Clutch pulley just sitting there. The belt should be Close to the edge up high the belt looks like it is about 1/2 inch down on the rear pulley. What size belt is on there maybe it is the wrong belt size. Alleyoop
