onley takes 4 mins to warm up, not the problem, thanx anyway That means your scoot is idling 8 minutes for every 20 mile round trip you do for your commute. You should be able to travel for at least 6 minutes additional instead of idling and that would have to make a difference in gas mileage? I'm not saying that would be the total answer, but when you are trying to improve gas mileage, you try to find ways to operate your scoot more efficiently. Make sure your tires are up to the proper pressure.

Idleing hardly uses any gas, and that would NOT explain using 1 3/4 of a gallon to go 43 miles. crap the Burgman 650 gets 41 miles to the gallon and we do a lot of stop and go. Alleyoop

Ok guys thanks for the help so far. I checked the enricher as far as I could befor dark. checked continuity of enricher coil first , got a good reading, therse a third wire in the enricher coil circuit?, anyway got a good reading almost a short , like 30 ohms, started the bike and only got 003 volt on the DC scale. the coil got hot like it should, carb and all els were cool. Im going to try the AC scale tomorro I hope. maby they run AC power to it??. its a lerning process I guess. ALLY OOP do you know what side of the engine the fuel pump is on??. I hate laying down under the bike as its hard to get back up! LOL..

They are usually on the left side to get a straighter shot to the carb since the Fuel Inlet on the carb is on the Left. Alleyoop

Papajon, on my 2007 JCLMP250, the fuel pump is on the richt side.Just pull off the right side side skirt and you will see it in plain sight mounted to a braket. Mine did not have a fuel petcock on the tank and the fuel line ran directly to the filter and then the carb. Had to drain tank just to change filter so when I changed all my vac and fuel lines, I installed a shut off at tank and installed a Mr gasket 42s electrick pump and dual filters. I wired the pump to a hot wire with the key on and put an inline fuse in it. I have never had a fuel problem (starvation or dirt) in 4 years. Like I said, I have same unit you have and my pump is on right side just inside the lower body skirt. very easy to get to. Hope this helps you. Barnie

Papajon, let me clarify right side depending on how you look at bike. If your sitting on it, it would be under your right foot. Barnie

Pappjon, my orig pump was vacumn. Shortly after I bought it I converted to electric. Engine has run absolutely perfect for 4 years now. Only thing I have done to it is change oil in engine and gearbox regularly and fuel filters and keep air cleaner clean. Only routine maint is all it takes to keep the linhai 257 going great. It's not a race horse, but it sure has done a fine job moving me down the road and thats all I wanted. Barnie

Hey thanks for the comeback Barnie! I havent had a chance to do much on the scoot but I went out this eave to plug in the batt tender, I had a boobytrap on the gas cap and it was still as I left it. But looked into the tank and Its down even more???, Nothing on the ground and no fuel smell??, Checked the oil same level and no gas smell??? The scoot hasnt run in 2 weeks! I saw where the fuel pump is and will pull that panel to check it out. I wonder if the gas is from a bad fuel pump diaphram, dripping to the carb vac hose and dowm to the oil pan then evaporating along its merry way???.
I will figure this out!!!! just need time. I didnt pass the 1989 NAISE tests for nothing! HAAAAAAAAAA later guys Poppajon...

Is there any chance the gas is dripping slowly on to the belly pan and evaporating away?? Possibly be dripping from the tank outlet or a crack in tank or fuel line or filter or pump leaking?? Drop the belly pan (you have to remove the floor boards and side skirts to to that and see if you can see where gas is dripping or has dripped. Barnie

Gas can leak from a hole or fitting with out ever dripping. My old 180 riva was doing that but it did have a gas smell. I finally found it, the valve. Some times a little piece of toilet paper touched on the suspect leak will change color when a tiny drip contacts it.
