Hi all got a good one for ya, not broken in yet only 42 miles on bike. My fuel guage was at just under 3/4 tank , Hummmm? So I filled tank using 1 quart measuring cup, it took 1.75 gal to refill a 3.50 gal tank after 42 miles, the speedo and odo are correct checked that out when I first started riding. If my math is correct thats 24 MPG! yucccch!!! But the bike runs great?? low speed high speed cruise at 45 to 50 cracked it open once uphill till hit65 mph then backed off. runs fine.I filled the tank from empty so its 3.50 gal, no black smoke nothing?. I think I read a thread about missing main jet or main jet fell out , but if thats the case how could it run so good, this ons got me? thanx for any help Poppajon...thought Id ask before tearing into it...

Hi, my scooter gets 65 to 70 mpg... Poor gas milage can be created by several things. 1. carb out of adjustment, 2. valve out of adjustment, 3. a fuel leak, ....

OOOp that sounds like the perfect practical joke for a new scooter owner...just steal a little gas. Then fill it up every night the second week!

Papajon, I have he same scooter you have, a 2007 JCL with the 257 engine and I have thousands of mile on it. I usually get about 120 miles out of 1.8 gal gas in mixed riding (city-hwy) I think I would re-check your mileage. Make sure your spedo and odometer are in mph and not km. If km that would really throw off your calculations as 1 km is .62 of a mile. Either check with a gps or mark out a mile of road with yor car and then check your odometer with that. If the engine runs just fine which it sounds as tho it does, your enricher may be staying engaged (choke still on all time) which will make it use a lot more gas. barnie

That is funny... Well, someone could be stealing a little... but really, you might be doing the math wrong... lol ( 3 gallons divided into 195 miles riden = 65 mpg... ) Another thought, is the scooter uses more gas when cold as posed to warmed up.. So if you only ride 3 miles to work, well warming up scooter may make it get less gas milage. Mine will get poorer gas milage in the winter verses the summer, due to warming up.

Also check your fuel pump Vacuum Line if you do not have an electric pump. The Pump could be bad and allowing fuel to drip down the vacuum hose. Pull the vacuum hose off by the carb and see if it is WET. Alleyoop

Pappajon, if you are warming up till the fan comes on always b-4 riding, that will kill your gas mileage. I have the same scoot you have and after I start it, as soon as it will take the throttle ok, I head down the driveway, I leave it warm up as I'm riding. Done that for 4 years and have had zero problems with it. Try it, you should be just fine. Barnie

I forgot to say I never smell gas fumes at anytime before or after a ride.
