Ridecheap, I have a 2007 jcl MP250 with the Linhai 257 engine and 4 years ago I installeded the same exact pump. Still there and working today. The filter is the gold part you see. you can just get a new one and unscrew the old and screw the new one back on. I also installed a fuel petcock at the tank and then a see thru filter between the petcock and pump so I can tell when to change. In other words I am double filtered which saves me from changing the one on the pump. I have never had a fuel issue of any kind since then. I bought my pump from Advanced auto parts. Barnie

Is there any chance the gas is dripping slowly on to the belly pan and evaporating away?? Possibly be dripping from the tank outlet or a crack in tank or fuel line or filter or pump leaking?? Drop the belly pan (you have to remove the floor boards and side skirts to to that and see if you can see where gas is dripping or has dripped. Barnie

Pappjon, my orig pump was vacumn. Shortly after I bought it I converted to electric. Engine has run absolutely perfect for 4 years now. Only thing I have done to it is change oil in engine and gearbox regularly and fuel filters and keep air cleaner clean. Only routine maint is all it takes to keep the linhai 257 going great. It's not a race horse, but it sure has done a fine job moving me down the road and thats all I wanted. Barnie

Papajon, let me clarify right side depending on how you look at bike. If your sitting on it, it would be under your right foot. Barnie

Papajon, on my 2007 JCLMP250, the fuel pump is on the richt side.Just pull off the right side side skirt and you will see it in plain sight mounted to a braket. Mine did not have a fuel petcock on the tank and the fuel line ran directly to the filter and then the carb. Had to drain tank just to change filter so when I changed all my vac and fuel lines, I installed a shut off at tank and installed a Mr gasket 42s electrick pump and dual filters. I wired the pump to a hot wire with the key on and put an inline fuse in it. I have never had a fuel problem (starvation or dirt) in 4 years. Like I said, I have same unit you have and my pump is on right side just inside the lower body skirt. very easy to get to. Hope this helps you. Barnie

How many miles do you have on scoot. I would look to your drive system. Variator/belt/clutch. My 1st guess is a problem with your belt. Will the engine rev up with out moving the bike?? Also make sure your calipers (brakes)are not stuck, (not likely tho). can you or do you have someone who can pull the side cover off of the variator/belt/clutch assy?? Would guess u will find your problem there. Barnie

Pappajon, if you are warming up till the fan comes on always b-4 riding, that will kill your gas mileage. I have the same scoot you have and after I start it, as soon as it will take the throttle ok, I head down the driveway, I leave it warm up as I'm riding. Done that for 4 years and have had zero problems with it. Try it, you should be just fine. Barnie

Papajon, I have he same scooter you have, a 2007 JCL with the 257 engine and I have thousands of mile on it. I usually get about 120 miles out of 1.8 gal gas in mixed riding (city-hwy) I think I would re-check your mileage. Make sure your spedo and odometer are in mph and not km. If km that would really throw off your calculations as 1 km is .62 of a mile. Either check with a gps or mark out a mile of road with yor car and then check your odometer with that. If the engine runs just fine which it sounds as tho it does, your enricher may be staying engaged (choke still on all time) which will make it use a lot more gas. barnie

I adjusted the valves int .004 and exh .006 when it was new and I re-adjust about every 1500 miles. There is a trick I can give you if you are going to adjust yours.. Barnie

My brakes wer not spongy either but just didnt seem to grab as good as I thought they should. Levers seemed to work hard. I changed the chinese brake fluid and what a difference it made. It has more than enough stopping power with just light pressure. The chinese fluid was a brownish red color. It's like the old fluid just woul not squeeze the calipers tight.. Barnie

skypupbob,,ref your weak brake problem. have you ever change the brake fluid. if not i suggest changing it using either dot3 or preferably dot4 synthetic. when you change the fluid it doesnt take very long to get the air out of the line to the front but the back one takes a long time so drain most of the fluid out of the master cylinders and refill with new fluid and then using the bleeders on the calipers run the new fluid thru till it comes out the caliper clear. be sure you dont let the fluid in the master cylinders go completely out as that will force air in your lines.
