Hi guys, Merry Christmas/whatever you believe in I decided to use my Christmas vacation to do some much needed maintenance on my 2008 Jonway 250cc scoot. Things I accomplished are: 1. Valve Adjustment 2. Oil change 3. Gear Oil change I was hearing a ticking noise coming from somewhere on the scoot, and from everything I read on the net, it sounded most like it was the valves. However, after adjusting the valves, (which turned out that I really didn't need to do yet) I'm still hearing the noise. When I removed the flywheel/clutch cover, I noticed that the flywheel is rubbing up against the cover and I'm not sure if it is supposed to be like that. Could this noise be where the sound is coming from? My scooter has 550 miles on it, but I got it from a friend who had let it sit for about 2 years in his garage. Flywheel/clutch cover scraping. You can see the scrapes on the flywheel here, not sure if this is good. Here is a video with sound so you can hear the ticking. Thanks for taking a look. The scooter is still in pieces in my garage until I get an answer. Trying to avoid paying someone to do this when I know that I am capable. Have a great holiday everyone - Jshawd40

Looks like your variator is loose and rubbing...need to check the nut...use an impact to loosen and then retighten the nut....I used air but electric will work just fine....

Yes, what I think is the YOU NEED A WASHER BEHIND the nut. What I think is happening is the VARIATOR FAN I would bet you can wiggle on the shaft. The Variator Fan fits on the SPLINE on the SHAFT and a washer is needed big enough to also go over the SPLINES SO THAT there are NO SPLINES SHOWING OUTSIDE THE VARIATOR. Without the Washer the NUT TIGHTENS ON THE SPLINES and not on the VARIATOR FAN. So the Fan is a little loose and wobbles and comes out just enough to rub on the cover. Allwyoop

Ya, I would check all screws and nuts. The don't always come tightened.
