Has any one come up with any decent cooling mods. I still know/remember that oil cooler the one guy is selling is highly debatable, was wondering if any thing else has come along while I have been gone.

Nothing new same old snake oil stuff just to relieve you of some green while they laugh all the way to the bank. Got to remember the MOTORS OIL passages are NOT SETUP to really use an oil cooler properly also the pumps are minimal at best to be able to pump the oil through the radiator.

actually I did forget about one things usually sold for pit bikes that does work. it's an oil that has better temperature capacity/conduction. unfortunately it doesn't do all that great with out an oil cooler.

I have an idea evolving an electric fan but, i need to know how much spare electricity the harness/system can spare and where i might tap in to it. Think i might even be able to hook it into a temp sensor/switch too.

What about Bashan's method? I know he has left his panels off for access convenience but it must also increase cooling. I have also seen posts about adding vents or just drilling appropriately placed holes in panels.

Wow that would probably be the way to go except for the price. And I noticed in red letters at in the description may take 2 weeks to ship! The ol buy it from some one else then ship it to you trick. NOT IN STOCK Selling you some thing they do not have....just like getting parts for a yamaha!

as bluefront (you remember him, you spoke at his orbit) posted with photos, the qmk 3,,, has oil ports just for air cooling of the oil, but you must buy cooler as a ad on.

the double intake---outtake bolts are behind the shroud, where they optimize the oil currents, this is also true on my 180 cc qmk as well.

the 123 vari and atv clutch is a nice touch also.

you can find those pics over at rebel forums.

but i don't think china wants those coolers easy to get, as they are priced higher for manufacturing cost then any single item on the bike, and would slow down new bike sales.

I have no idea what Drifter is talking about. The water cooled jug looks interesting but, i'm already installing a 60cc jug, unless they had one with matching size. I'm not looking to really break 60cc because i'm really doing it for compression gains (ported stock head).

What my idea was, it to use a before high quality computer/server fan of about 120mm, mounted where the spark plug access cover is (between you feet) to push a little bit of fresh air under all the cowling.

I say a little bit because the high CFM fans draw some amps.

Just remember 50's do not have much or any extra electrical capability so unless you can gain some like going with all led lights you will end up with a dead or dying battery.

Well at the least, removing the spark plug access cover in favor of a mesh would help at least some but, it would be more effective with a finned valve cover.

A set of fins on the bottom of the crank case would help too/

But if you stop to think, that gy6 engine as it was originally designed the cooling was good, nothing has changed except some one has put a big 150cc barrel on it and some have as much as 200cc on top of that little gy6 crank case.

on the later QMK motors, under the air shroud, there are factory installed oil ports that are supply/returns for a buy it your self and install oil radiator.

which i have only seen one take advantage of.


also you can open your CVT air intake with a higher flow filter, that thing will push real air currents past all that metal in there and blow very hot air out the back cvt vent, meaning its not going to your back tire


I have a 123 veri case, so this makes for a real cooling source,

you can also open up your plastic engine head foot boot cover with a 1/2 hole bit, if you drill uniformly, it will not look bad, and on many bikes will provide better cooled intake air to the carb, which should never have to breath hot air.

you can also cut out a few of your intake cooling fan louvers to let more air in/thru
