I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello. My girlfriend and I have just bought our first scooters, a couple of 150cc chinese scooters. Your site has been a ton of help as I go through them and get them ready to ride. With the info from your site I have installed: Dr. Pulley Variator Kit Gates Belt Gold "Racing" CDI 11 Pole Stator and 7 pin R/R Bi-Tone Horn and relay(sounds like a Buick now) Replaced all lights except instrument and headlights with LED's I have finished all upgrades on my gf's scoot and I managed to get it fired up on the first attempt GF's scoot during upgrades Mine waiting to be started on And yes, all work is being done in the living room, it was just feeling a little empty once all the 55 Chevy parts were moved out

Luke Is that the Yamaha Morphus/clone? I just really like those things (A man can't say he LOVES an inamanant object, but I love me VW Bus, and my Caddy Fleetwood, and my goldwing, and my Ranchero, and my Sabre, and my dog) And as soon as I get two legs that work, and $2500, me gonna get one.
3level Nice job of upgrades and dong it in the house. But, once the GF becomes the wife, you're back in the garage with the Chevy.

Oh sure, the Yamaha is so reliable you keep two. One to ride while the other is out of commission. At last, photographic proof!

Luke Thanks for the welcome. I have been careful having fueled scooter in the house(adding only a few ounces, no extra fuel in the house, 2 fire extinguishers nearby, ventilation) Dave Well, the funny thing is, the '55 is hers And the scooters will never end up in the garage as that is where her '69 Buick lives. That's why we are putting up a shed to house the scooters. As a side note, I forgot to mention that I also replaced all the fuel line with Armormark fuel line, and the LED upgrade also required the installation of an electronic relay to combat fast flashing. I just grabbed an Novita EP36 from the local Autozone to use. Dual Horn kit from Harbor Freight(came with the relay too) Turn Signal Relay and LED bulbs(all from autozone except for baggie with 2 amber wedges from SuperBrightLEDs) New CDI and R/R

Yes yes Luke ☎, we all know you have a Yamaha Morbius.........very special indeed. Welcome to the forum The3rdLevel, as you can see some of our members aren't wrapped real tight. Speaking of which, you should fit right in around here considering the fact you have a scooter.....or two....in your living room. Of course nobody seems to think that's weird....fine. Well 3rd, if you need anything around the forum just shoot me a PM.

Luke Yea Yea, we all know of your disdain for anything other than Japanese. In fact, I love Japan also. I was stationed there for 4 years, loved the people, the lifestyle, their cars, countryside, the entire country. (was stationed close to where the nuclear site is/was/blew up/destroyed/etc) But, I do like the Yamaha Morphus, and was just clarifying that's what you have, since I'm a newbie here. You, personally, really should lighten up on those of us who don't have a Yamaha BTW: I've got some Japanese bikes also (Goldwing/Shadow Sabre and what's left of the Magna) And, I know you're just wanking everyones chain, as you couldn't be as big an arse as Alley says you are. Either way, I was just commenting on your JAPANESE scoot. Nice, if I had 2 working legs, I'd get one. Dave out

And I look at the purchase of my yamaha majesty as a mistake. If I had to have paid a yamaha dealer for the top end over haul I would have twice what it is worth in it. I still feel I have that much in it as my time is worth some thing. Runs good now and it should. I will say it again........ yamaha is the worst scooter/bike I have ever tried to obtain parts for in my life....if you have one be very carefull you don't break it. If you plan to service it, be sure you order all the parts ahead of time so you don't have down time. Yamaha dealers do not stock parts.

My majesty was down 8 days when I went to put a set of rear brake pads in that I already had.....when I retracted the piston in the caliper the rear seal rolled out so I went to the local stealer/dealer and it took 8 days for them to obtain 2 o-rings for less than $4! Just think if you were out on the road with one and you needed a minor repair.

how did you retract the piston? i think u did it the wrong way, the pistons on the yamahas need to be turned clockwise to retract. maybe you forced it with a caliper. OMG!! $$$$$ the piston is pretty tight to turn but it turns very very slowly.
next time , pls ask me

I found out that that's how the caliper piston in my girlfriends mustang is retracted. Takes a special tool and it slowly screws in. very frustrating at the time I know now

No I twisted it right, the rubber was all swollen on both the outside dust seal and the fluid seal. Both were at least a 1/4 inch larger in dia than the new seals. I can see that happening on a disk brake but I can not see the dealer I bought it from not having those o-rings in stock. Chinese parts are way quicker to obtain. All I know is yamaha may be reliable, but take one on a trip and have some thing break you better figure in a week or two at a motel waiting for parts. Might be money ahead after towing to a dealer to try to trade it in on another scooter so you could go on with your ride and get home. I have called harleys nasty names but I would sure rather have one of them break and get it fixed the same day and ride on.
