...as it says. The top part broke off, leaving the threaded half inside the hole. What can I do? How do I get it out? Can I use a regular bolt (from home depot) until I can get a new part? If so, what size?
I am so frustrated right now. Finally got the D thing running pretty well, bought a compressor so I could do what I needed to do (impact stuff) and then this. I did not do the last oil change. I realize that it was probably tightened too much by the person that did the last oil change.
Help!

Same thing happend to me! But I got an electric drill. Drilled two small holes opposite from each other in the piece stuck in the scoot, then used needle nose pliers to screw it out....
That was the most devastating even of my life.. My dumb fault fault for turning it the wrong way.

Thanks for the story, sounds like a good idea... Problem is, if it was tightened too much to the point that it would rip the head off rather than loosening, are the threads that are still in there so tight that they will never come out? Or when the head was removed from the body, did the tension go away? Ya. I am thinking about killing my scooter at this point...

did the whole head rip off or just the center section that sticks out to turn grab and turn it with.
If that is all that broke off you have quite a bit still sticking out, just get some pliers and grab the part that is sticking out and turn it COUNTER CLOCKWISE. Alleyoop

I was turning it the wrong way which is why the head broke in the first place so mine was as tight as it could get. I would try drilling holes and using pliers to screw it off. Picture attached is the final result of the plug Just make sure you dont drill through the plug and into the threading. It would suck to get it out and the new one won't go in. I wouldn't know what to tell you then.

If part of it is sticking out I WOULD NOT DRILL IT, just use some pliers and unscrew the thing. You could drill and get plastic down into the oil and could block up the oil passages they are small passages. my .02 Alleyoop

I guess the pic decided not to attach to the last post At the time I didnt know that it was still stuck in there, so I was pulling the other stuff out. Got a little ahead of myself. Good thing the plug filter and everything came as a set on ebay for under 10 bucks

OH crap!! Damn I have never seen anyone do that before. I thought it was the DIP STICK PLUG you broke off. But it looks like you got the threaded part out. You will have to order a whole new set. Alleyoop

haha. Yea. I wish it was the dipstick that had broke instead of the drain plug. That was one of the most depressing moments of my life. Good thing its fixed now. One of the worst problems is having a problem with no or limited resolutions.
The plug was ridiculously cheap. It didn't snap or anything. It kinda bent then crumbled out.

Yes they are cheaply made, but those do not crank on it to tighten just nice and snug it has the O-Ring that actually seals. Alleyoop

OK this thread has been side-tracked. I was the original poster, the one with the problem, not jjoshua... MY plug broke off because it was tightened by a family member too tight. When I went to take it off it was stuck, used a rubber hammer to try and loosen it, and it tore the cap off of the plug. Nothing is sticking out
jjoshua was talking about a previous experience he had in response to my original problem.

If the whole head has come off just leaving the threaded part in the casing then you shouldn`t have too much of a problem getting them out. The tension is when the seal face mates with the casing, with the face gone the threaded part should unscrew reasonably easy. We`ve had a few go in work, I get a normal pair of pliers, put the ends inside the threaded part then pull the legs apart and turn....if that makes sense
