Well I just read the Service Manual and it says 1400 KPA which converts to 203PSI so 160 is actually very low for that motor. my .02 Alleyoop

Sorry I was thinking of 50s and 150 motors. Anyway pour a tablespoon of oil down the PLUG hole and take and another reading. NOW YOU HAVE TO HOLD THE THROTTLE WIDE OPEN otherwise it will give you low readings when doing a compression test. DID YOU DO THAT when you got the 160 reading? IF NOT RETAKE THE READING WITHOUT OIL. Cool, many do not hold the throttle wide open and get low readings and take the motor apart for nothing. It has to suck in as much air as possible to get a good reading. Alleyoop

I found a really old (maybe 20 years) compression gauge in my garage, and tired it. I got a reading of about 155 PSI. The gauge may be off a bit.
Like I said I think the 165 you got is fine.
Hopefully your problem is the loose drive belt.

I have the 244cc Honda clone, Linhai compression should be similar. I just downloaded the Linhai manual. Here is the link, and engine specs below. Linhai/Majesty 250 manual majestyscooter.uw.hu/Letoltes/250/YP250_Service_Man_1996.pdfI went back and poured a little oil into the cylinder since my scooter has been sitting a lot. I probably got too much in because it shot up past 250 PSI. I cranked and retried several times. After a few minutes it got down to about 170 to 175 range. Linhai 250 Engine Specs 14 Bar = 203 PSI www.convertunits.com/from/bar/to/psi

Yeah i have had the manual and read that bastard about 20 times... anyways... so... i poured the oil in the hole... and mine did the same exact thing... shot up over 250 and then i let it sit for a lil while... cranked it over a few times.. and now its right where the manual says it should be... PIC below...... so what exactly does this all mean?

Ok.. I am sure this is normal... but just thought I would throw it out there... Now that it has set for a couple hours.. the reading has dropped to about 185 psi... I do believe it will continue to drop until back to what it was... is that correct?
And again... what does all of this mean?

I just checked my Chevy TrailBlazer manual. It says my inline six cylinder has a 10:1 compression ratio like our scooters. It says minimum PSI is 150, and Typical (aka max., normal) is 215 PSI. So now we know the range it should be.

Yes it will drop more as the oil drips away also if you start it the oil will burn away and the readings will drop. Alleyoop

So mine is within that range... but at the VERY BOTTOM of it... with the oil it got up to the NORMAL... therefore my guess is rings.....
I have already started the tear down process...

I know you already started tearing your scooter apart, but I found this info in the Honda Helix manual while I was browsing through it. It is what the compression reading should be. I added the high and low end calculation in red at the right side of the picture.
