Hello! I hope I'm putting this in the proper place. I looked all over this site to find someone with a bike that looks like mine, well here goes. I have the same engine as in the photo here. (2012 Jonway YY250T 244cc) I was having dead batt issues since I bought the bike (brand new) a little over a year ago. So I bought a new batt. and still the same issue. So I checked the output of my charging sys. and discovered that it was not charging AT ALL. I purchased a brand new stator for $90.00 which I found cheaper after the fact on another site. (49.00) My problem is WHERE IS THE STATOR LOCATED? The place I bought the bike from stated that all I had to remove was the muffler and BAM there it is. NOT TRUE. Can someone please help me locate the stator so I can R&R it so I can get back on the road again. (It's been a month of not riding.) Arrrgh Attachments:

The stator is a big job for some on this bike. I would verify it is the stator before you replace it. I would think you should check the Regulator / Rectifier first as those are known on this bike to be of lower quality and have over heating low charge issues.

It may not be the STATOR it could be the REGULATOR/RECTIFIER that has gone south. But you can find which one is the CULPRIT by checking the OUTPUT of the STATOR. If the output of the STATOR IS GOOD then you know it is the REGULATOR/RECTIFIER that you need. Alleyoop Here is how to TEST BOTH, REGULATOR/RECTIFIER and STATOR: www.thegsresources.com/garage/gs_statorfault.htm

Sorry it took so long to respond. I have been trying to stay cool during this crazy heat wave here in PA. I put my bike back to gether today. It started right up. Now I have to check to see if the battery is being charged. I will let you know how it goes tomorrow evening. My wife's friend is getting married tomorrow so, I am not sure of what time I will be getting back to my garage.

The stator is only replaced usually after some extensive troubleshooting to eliminate other areas that can cause problems. My YY250T (2008) has a blocking diode in the charge circuit which is used to control the headlights and the charging of the battery. Check your scoot to see if your electrics look the same as in my picture: The small heat sink thing in the upper left hand part of the picture is the blocking diode. If this diode is electrically open or if the associated wiring is open, then the battery will not charge. Assuming your scoot is laid out the same, then a quick check of the diode is to disconnect it from the scoot wiring (white plug just to the right of the diode) and jumper the plug coming from the scoot. If the headlights come on, then you have the jumper set right. Start the scoot and see if you get a voltage of over 13 volts at idle and around 14 volts at 5000 rpm. You will need a basic digital voltmeter to check this and do general troubleshooting of any electrical problems. If the voltages check out, then the diode is open and has to be replaced. The stator is buried behind the large silver cover in the lower right part of this picture.

Hey! I took the Mrs. out to breakfast this morning on the bike and everything went fine! The fan was working well and the temp.guage was below half all the time we were riding. (3hrs) when we came out of the restaurant, it was time to find out if the charging sys. was doing its job. We held our breath and Vrrroooom! It started right up. As I have said previously, I have never worked on a bike like this before and thanks to you all, I am now more confident and comfortable with doing so. Thank you all for your time and support. You all ROCK!

I replaced the stator, R/R, and the diode. I also changed the gear oil with "Lucas 90wht" and just to keep everything on the light side, I disconnected the right headlight. I usually don't ride at night so it does not interfere. You know how it sounds when everything is working together and in tune with each other? Well that's what I have right now and it sounds and feel marvelous!
Thanks again Alleyoop and others!

Hey on that lil quick check on the diode, the running lights don't come on but if I press down on the switch for "passing lights" those come on.. did I do it right? I just put a wire from positive to the diode
